Landmark Decisions
R. in re Neasa I (2016)
In this matter of libel, the actual suit being dismissed, the question arose of whether the territory of Cinnamon Creek in Utah had been annexed into Loquntia. The court held that the certain provisions in the constitution of Cinnamon Creek made the annexation invalid. This was also the first case to apply the "Doctrine of Estimable Ruin" to a libel case, where the value of the damages was intangible, so no damages were awarded.
R. in re Neasa II (2016)
The question was posed of whether testimony given by the Sovereign's Royal Person could be admissible in court. While the Sovereign cannot legally be distrained to give testimony, an affidavit or verbal testimony is otherwise admissible.
R. in re Universal Triumvirate Law 2016-I-02 (2016)
The question was posed of whether a law passed in the Universal Triumvirate exiting a treaty with Loquntia was valid when it was misspelled "Loquintia". After considerable study the court upheld the "Spirit before Letters" doctrine of legislative intent, a rule now codified in the Revised Statutes that justices have to follow when interpreting the law.
