The State of Wâldeitzlân (Wâldeitz: Wâldeitzreijk), referred colloquially as Wâldeitzlân, is a self-proclaimed sovereign state, commonly known as a micronation by external observers.
History
Background
The State of Wâldeitzlân was founded on 29 September 2024. It claims a small territory in the 1066 Country of England and maintains a small population of approximately 750.
Government
System of Governance
The State of Wâldeitzlân is a unitary one-party dictatorship, led by the Stiitak Vaalk Irbeijks Oanvrij (SVIO: National Peoples Workers Party). The party is headed by the Vaalkpriisdak, who maintains absolute authority over all matters of state - being that of legislative, judicial, and executive.
Governmental Offices
Whilst the Vaalkpriisdak maintains full control over all avenues of leadership, the government requires a cabinet to function. The cabinet consists of 5 offices:
- Foreign Office (Oalðod Kaatijk)
- Economic Office (Vaastajorik Kaatijk)
- Internal Office (Ynvund Kaatijk)
- Defense Office (Firdijknal Kaatijk)
- People's Office (Vaalk't Kaatijk)
Culture
Religion and Spirituality
Wâldeitzlân is, de jure, a Roman Catholic state, as declared in Article 32 of the Wâldeitz Declaration of Independence. While this is the state religion, the majority of citizens are agnostic, or deistic. Catholic priests, professed religious, and consecrated virgins are exempt from civic duties; this privilege is explicitly irrevocable.
Wâldeitz
Wâldeitz is an Anglo-Frisian constructed language. It is heavily derived from West Frisian, from where it receives the basis of most its vocabulary, with some lesser influences of Dutch, Old English, German, and modern English. However, Wâldeitz grammar is noticeably different to other Anglo-Frisian languages, more closely resembling the grammar seen in Romance languages.
While Wâldeitz is legally the primary language in Wâldeitzlân, English is the Lingua franca, natively spoken by 100% of the population.
Sample texts
Due to the fact it is still early in development, Wâldeitz does not have much literature available. However, some smaller texts have been translated into Wâldeitz.
