The State of Skipness Gate was founded after the President of Taigh a Bata went on a day trip to Skipness in September 2010. The State was finally added to the Taigh a Bata records after the 2010 Taigh a Bata flood. It was the first proper state in Taigh a Bata which was not located on the Isle of Arran.
