The State Security Bureau, or SSB, was the secret police force and main security agency for the Vancouver Island Soviet Socialist Republic. The SSB was responsible for carrying out internal security, foreign intelligence, and secret police functions. The State Security Bureau answered directly to the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the VISSR, and also played a large role in assisting the Island Liberation Army with military intelligence and counter-espionage operations.
