Introduction
The Sovereign Cross of the Redeemer is the most honorary (though not the highest) award of the USAR. It symbolises that the nation may be communist, but its roots begin from Orthodox Christianity. It is based on the Greek Order of the Redeemer. It had 4 classes: the silver cross, the silver cross with swords, the Grand Cross and the Grand Cross with swords. The swords variants are awarded for military merit while the non sword variants are awarded for "heroic acts not related to combat". Greece and USSR are the main sources of medal designs for the USAR. Most of the designs are modified.
