Rhodieland, officially known as the Feudality of Rudeinya, is a semi-online, real entity based micronation located in West Asia, inside the borders of Kirsehir Province of the Republic of Turkey. It, alongside it's neighbour Likea, are the only Micronations in Turkey to both have an online and real presence.
Rhodieland is landlocked; it has 83 permanent citizens and 39 foreign citizens as of 2022.
Economy
Rhodieland has a small agriculture based economy with about 80% of the population being farmers.
Rhodieland is an agrarian feudalist state and it's economy depends highly on wheat exports. Many of the natives migrated into cities or abroad, decreasing Rhodieland's population from 437 in 1980 to 83 in 2006. The population steadily increased since then thanks to the development of infrastructure.
Etymology
The English name of the country is often mistaken with the slang used to refer to Rhodesians, although the former and the latter are not related. A more appropriate way to refer to the country would be Rudeinya (lit. 'Wheatfield') which is it's native name. It originates from it's province name under former Hatti Empire and is a reference to the many wheat fields surrounding the area. It is also acceptable to refer the country as Laipat, being the name of the village the country is founded on. The locals refer to it simply as 'Köy' (lit. Village).
Origins
Nothing about how Rhodieland came to be is known aside from the fact that it was part of the Hatti Microstate, an online Micronation based on Telegram that is almost entirely erased from existence. It was controlled by a group called Laipat Free Company. LFC's group logo was a tricolour flag of green, white and black with an additional fasces. Current flag of Rhodieland is based off of this logo.
Ironically, this online Microstate, despite having a ruler who resides in Switzerland, had two neighbouring communities that were it's only real life presence. After the dissolution of Hatti's due to unknown reasons, two members from these communities would to on to declare their own Micronations, spreading the idea within their communities in the meantime. One of these two was Idia, who established a constitutional monarchy with no written constitution.
Despite his young age, due to unforeseen circumstances, he suffered from asphyxia and died at the ripe age of 22. The few people who acknowledged his interest in Micronations, wanted to continue his legacy in his memory, thus forming symbolic movements to succeed him. The main issue started when they all questioned which movement was the legitimate successor. This issue would lead onto Idian Civil War, a bloodless conflict fought using BB guns.
The war was won by a group known as FAPAMON Loyalists that were 3 seperate groups numbering about 30 people in total known as the White, Black and Green Army. No-one in the group was willing to take up sole leadership after the victory however, so the head of the Greens, Solak, nicknamed Zernov, shown himself as the candidate and won by 56% in a mock up election.
Adopting to the idea of Micronationalism, Luka, head of Likea, decided to join in on what he considered “the only interesting thing around since the quarantine” and immediately invaded Rhodieland with an army of 40 people (his own claim). Though his invasion wouldn't succeed and his forces would be scattered in combined efforts of Zernov and Attila. After the victory Zernov would declare himself the “Benevolent King Emperor Sultan Bey and the Protector of all the Trolls, his trollist Rhodie the First, the last true watermelon raider and the defeater of Likeans”. Later on he would create an entirely new political system from scratch to state it as their state ideology, though how much of this 'ideology' is followed is questionable.
Zernov went to announce what he referred to as “the Reconstruction Authority” and convinced majority of the locals to adopt new agricultural systems, to rebuild infrastructure and to realise his ideal of a fully self sufficient village. The village's income increased threefold, though it's still lacking the proper infrastructure and Zernov states his dream of “establishing a village so developed that urbanites migrate to it” is “further away than Kazakhstan”.
Politics
Rhodieland is ruled under “Red Laipat Feudalism”. Zernov himself referred to it as “I made this ideology up, pretend it's there-ism”. Though the level of detail went into the creation of the idea is astonishing, it simply only exists in name, with Hox stating “We've came up with it to give some legitimacy to our Micronation, we do not really practice anything related to it”.
Under Red Laipat Feudalism -which aside from it's name, has nothing to do with Feudalism- state's main employees are agriculturers. Farmers work for the state and in return receive a fixed wage and grants. The idea is to keep the ahriculture sector running to be self sufficient regarding food.
Farming zones are divided into administrative zones, each farmer is registered to one of these zones and can not own land or engage in farming outside of them. They elect representatives for the Senate of Representatives every 2 years, which deals with socio-economic demands of the nation. The other half of the Senate is the Senate of the notables, appointed by the government to draft, present and pass laws.
Each and every individual has the right to be apart of the Senate of the Representatives provided that they have enough votes. However, only university graduates with “relevant” degrees can be appointed as a notable and each notable is appointed by the government. Government is conditioned to appoint 3 government, 3 opposition and 3 independent notables, numbering 9 notables in total.
State's first and foremost duty is to provide the necessary funding and education to the agriculturers. If the Senate of Representatives feel that the current government can not meet the needs of the farmers, then they can deman re-elections for the government which in return requires 5 out of votes to pass through the Senate of Notables.
Foreign Relationships
After 1st of June 2024, Rhodieland has denounced all it's foreign relationships with all Micronations and is targeting on re-opening them by 17th of June 2024.
