Novogrod has a Department of Defence, the only army is a small reserve army only for defensive purposes. The Republic of Novgorod requires all citizens to serve at least 6 months in the reserve army Military under the Novogrod Department of Defense. Novogrod's military is rather small compared to other nations. In the future, they hope to expand. Veterans (Served 5+ years) in The Republic of Novgorod have extra rights that a “normal” civilian wouldn't have. This includes access to discounts when purchasing goods in Novogrod and being able to receive extra financial help from the government if needed. There are currently more troops concentrated in the Belarus side of Novogrod in fear of Russian troops getting too close to the borders due to the Russia-Ukraine Conflict.
