The Republic of New Valdenya is a self-proclaimed sovereign nation that is located in western Latvia.
Etymology
The first four letters "Vald" are in reference to the name of the town that hosts this micronation, Valdemārpils, the suffix of the name was just added for it to sound more interesting. The "New" is referencing the fact that this isn't the first time this micronation has been formed.
Flag origin
The flag was designed with symbolism in mind. In the middle is the coat of arms of Valdemārpils, which is also adopted to be the coat of arms of New Valdenya. The yellow on the top is to symbolize acceptance towards everyone, regardless of race, nationality, sexuality and gender, and it is the same yellow that appears on the coat of arms. The white is symbolic of peace, prosperity and hope, and a bright future for everybody. The red is to symbolize the blood of those killed by hate crimes, and the color is similar to that of the Latvian flag to symbolize the parent nation of New Valdenya.
History
The First Monarchy
The history of the micronation began on May 10, 2017, when at-the-time King Jacob found out about micronationalism and found it interesting he instantly drafted up a declaration of independence and made a flag. A few days later he and his at-the-time friends decided to make a declaration of land and put it on a light pole with the flag to somehow show that The Kingdom of Valdenya was now an independent country.
Minutes after it was put on, we stood there waiting for people to notice, until some random teenage girls started bullying us for trying to make a micronation, but younger me took this too seriously and decided to end everything, bringing the 1st era to an end.
The Second Monarchy
When the King remembered about micronationalism a few months later in 2018, he went to the other microwiki on fandom and created a page there about his kingdom, for a few days nothing happened, he only did things with the nation in his mind, it was a heavy fantasy micronation and he was the only citizen.
A month later, he was added to the LOMN. Most of this era was radio silence and nothingness.
He claimed 3 islands off the Norwegian coast and a strip of land 15 kilometers away, those pieces of land have been as of now ceded back to the owner countries.
He gave up micronationalism after long periods of boredom.
The Republic
Again, in 2018, the now President had remembered about micronationalism and restarted his fantasy micronation. He had taken the title of President and renamed the Kingdom to the Republic, though in terms of leadership nothing had changed. He had the same land claims, except for what was lost previously. It was a one-man nation and operated similarly to the last one. He claimed to have people in his nation, when it really was only him. This era was short once again and ended in radio silence.
The New Republic
The republic has been refounded under a new name and identity. This time it is a semi-serious micronation and made in a protest towards the Latvian people, who have stained the Latvian identity.
