Organisation of Active Micronations | |
The Republic of Nasatroe (Spanish: República de Nasatroe), commonly known as Nasatroe, (pronounced: Na-sa-tro), is a territorial micronation, comprising of parts of the northern half of the State of Georgia, within the United States of America. Nasatroe was officially founded on September 9, 2008, but it existed unofficially before this date. Nasatroe is a member of the Organisation of Active Micronations and an active member of the MicroWiki community. The Republic of Nasatroe is a presidential republic. The current Constitution of the Republic of Nasatroe was signed on July 24, 2011. The Republic of Nasatroe is generally thought of as being a conservative micronation.
Nasatroe is considered a minor player within the MicroWiki community. This is due to political instability and upheaval. The Republic of Nasatroe has also been plagued by periods of limited activity within the intermicronational community. The Republic of Nasatroe has a population of 8, with a majority of that number being active within the government, economy, or culture of the micronation. The Republic of Nasatroe is one of the older members of the MicroWiki community. The current president, Joseph Baker discovered the MicroWiki in December 2009, during the New European Civil War. Nasatroe did not make itself known on the wiki until its application to the Organisation of Active Micronations in May 2010.
The Republic of Nasatroe has an active domestic policy which it caries out through the Ministry of Domestic Policy and the Presidency. The President is involved in many government activities within the Republic of Nasatroe including both foreign and domestic policy. The seat of government is the Victoria Capital District. The Republic of Nasatroe is classified as a member of the Sixth World in the Bloodsmythe-Tallini System of Classification. Nasatroe has a president as head of state and head of government. The President is currently Joseph Baker and the Vice-President is Darius Longstreet.
Etymology
The name Nasatroe originates from the mind of Joseph Baker, at the age of six. Joseph Baker was watching a History Channel episode on Troy, and then he watched an episode on NASA. He then decided to create his own micronation, which was named Nasatroe. This micronation lacked seriousness and was mostly a micronation made out of lego and toys. The micronation was revived every so often throughout the years between this naming and the republic's foundation in 2008. Joseph Baker decided to use the name he had already created six years before when he founded the Republic of Nasatroe on September 9, 2008.
History
Pre-Nasatroe
The first civilization that inhabited the area that the Republic of Nasatroe is found in today, were the moundbuilders. These American Indians built several large mounds across Georgia, the most famous being the Etowah Mounds. The culture of these American Indians was very complex and was formed over several generations. When the New World was discovered and the Spaniards began colonizing North America, the province of Guale was formed with the establishment of a mission on St. Catherines Island. This province was taken over by the British with the establishment of the colony of South Carolina. Guale became a disputed region between both sides. The Charter of 1733 established the colony of Georgia. The War of Jenkins Ear solidified British rule in the region. Up until this point, Georgia had been a trustee colony. After the Charter of 1733 expired, it became a Royal Colony.
Georgia became an agricultural-based colony with a large dependency on the British. The colony was not present at the first Contintental Convention, and barely present at the second. Some of the other colonies thought that Georgia would not revolt against British rule. Georgia became part of the United States of America in 1776 and fought the British till the Treaty of Paris in 1783. Few engagements took place within Georgia. The two largest battles were the Siege of Savannah and the Battle of Kettle Creek. Georgia was a small state within the United States of America and had little say at the Constitutional Convention.
Life in Georgia was stable until the election of 1860, when the Confederate States of America was declared independent of the United States of America. Georgia was an industrial powerhouse for the South and was a major target for the Union forces. Georgia rejoined the Union in 1870 after five years of off and on military rule.
Nasatroe
The Empire of Nasatroe was founded sometime in 2002 by Joseph Baker. This small empire was more of a joke than a micronation. The Republic of Nasatroe was founded on September 9, 2008. The Republic of Nasatroe went through several different types of states, at one point being a republic within the Federated Republics of A1.
Royal County
On July 13, 2011, the Kingdome of Mufasa declared the then inactive Republic of Nasatroe a Royal County and appointed Count Leopold I as Count of the Royal County of Nasatroe. Under his mandate, many residents of Nasatroe went without necessary basic government functions such as keeping the peace, and failed to uphold the basic human rights of Nasatraians. He exiled leaders such as Darius Longstreet on his first day in office and Joseph Baker on July 16, 2011.
Revolution
On July 23, 2011, Joseph Baker returned to Victoria and quickly formed the Nasatraian Liberation Movement which took the Royal Palace and exiled Count Leopold I. Joseph Baker established the Republic of Nasatroe and declared the Military Tribunal of the Republic of Nasatroe as the temporary government of the Republic of Nasatroe. On July 24, 2011, several formerly exiled members of the Republic of Nasatroe including Darius Longstreet, Victoria Silver, and Cocoa Jones returned to the Republic of Nasatroe.. On that same day, the Constitution of the Republic of Nasatroe was signed. Elections were held for the House of Assembly on July 25, 2011, and on July 26, Joseph Baker took the office of President and Darius Longstreet took the office of Vice-President.
Government and Politics
The Government of the Republic of Nasatroe is a presidential republic. The positions of head of state, head of government, and commander of the National Police Service are vested within the Office of the President of the Republic of Nasatroe.The current President of the Republic of Nasatroe, Joseph Baker, is the first President of the Republic of Nasatroe. Currently, Nasatraian Liberation Movement makes up a majoirty of the House of Assembly, which means that the Presidency is also held by the Nasatraian Libertation Movement.
The House of Assembly is made up of one Member of the House of Assembly for each township. Each Member of the House of Assembly is elected once every year by the citizens of a Member's township. The President is elected by the House of Assembly and he or she appoints the Vice-President, Minister of Domestic Policy, Minister of Foreign Policy, and Commissioner of the National Police Service.

Law and Order
The Republic of Nasatroe is policed by the National Police Service. The National Police Service is responsible for the defense of the Republic of Nasatroe from all threats, whether internal or external. The National Police Service is under the authority of the Commissioner of the National Police Service. The National Police Service makes regular patrols around the border in order to safeguard the Republic of Nasatroe from sporadic attacks from the Kingdom of Mufasa. The National Police Service has also began a new fitness program to keep Nasatraian citizens fit, healthy, and prepared to defend the Republic of Nasatroe.

he National Judiciary is under the authority of the Chief Justice of the National Judiciary which by ex officio is the President of the Republic of Nasatroe. The National Judiciary is in the process of creating a Penal Code of the Republic of Nasatroe in order to begin trials. Any serious cases other than treason are the responsibiltiy of the respective court in the United States of America, but the Republic of Nasatroe reserves the right to try all cases where crimes are committed within the territory of the Republic of Nasatroe. that the Chief Justice wishes to be brought to the National Judiciary. The National Judiciary normally meets once every two months to deliberate on violations of the law performed during the past two months before the session began.

Geography and climate
The climate of the Republic of Nasatroe is considered a humid subtropical climate with mild winters and hot summers. The average high and low for the Republic of Nasatroe in January is 50F and 20F respectivly. The average high and low for the Republic of Nasatroe in July is 88F and 67F respectivly. The average annual rainfall of the Republic of Nasatroe is 55 in. The terrain of the Republic of Nasatroe is slowly sloping until the hills of Canistowne, where elevations may be 8 to 9 feet higher than the lowest point within the Republic of Nasatroe. The Republic of Nasatroe is located in northern state of Georgia within the United States of America.
Victoria
The capital of the Republic of Nasatroe is located within Victoria. This region is one of the most developed and modern parts of the Republic of Nasatroe. The region includes national icons such as the Presidential Palace, the Jones Athletic Center, and the National Mint. The current Member of the House of Assembly for Victoria is Joseph Baker. Victoria is the site of many political activites including the National Congress of the Nasatraian National Party. The Party meets at the Jones Athletic Center before every election to determine the candidates for the election. Victoria has a service-oriented economy that provides a minority of the GDP of the Republic of Nasatroe.
Canistowne
Canistowne is the home to a large amount of the National Police Service officers of the Republic of Nasatroe. Fort Longstreet is located within the Canistowne area and makes up a large proportion of the territory within this region. Canistowne is the largest region within the Republic of Nasatroe. The region is home to a small mining industry. The small mining industry makes up less than 10% of the GDP, but is still considered a large part of the national economy. Canistowne is part of the National Development Plan and hopes to rebuild some of the housing that is beginning to fall apart within the township. Canistowne is a notoriously pro-National Party region. The Member of the House of Assembly for Canistowne is Cocoa Jones
Felinshire
Felinshire is the second most developed region of the Republic of Nasatroe. It is one of the poorer regions within the republic. The township of Felinshire is the most industrialized region of the republic, but lacks artistic and non-industrialized commerce. The production in Felinshire provides for about 20% of the GDP. Citizens from Felinshire make up a large part of the National Police Service. The Member of the House of Assembly for Felinshire is Victoria Silver.
Economy
The economy of the Republic of Nasatroe is heavily dependent on agriculture. The Republic of Nasatroe's economy falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Domestic Policy. The main agricultural area of the Republic of Nasatroe is located within the Canistowne area. The Republic of Nasatroe also operates a lawn-mowing business that has several clients within the United States of America. the Ministry of Domestic Policy established the Nasatraian Bar as the currency of the Republic of Nasatroe. The Nasatraian Bar is equivalent to one twelfth of a Hershey's Chocolate Bar. Production of the Nasatraian Bar is handled by the National Mint in Victoria.
Culture
The culture of the Republic of Nasatroe follows that of the surrounding area. Being within the "Deep South" of the United States, the Republic of Nasatroe follows the traditions of Southern Culture. The Government of Nasatroe recognizes that "Stuffing", a.k.a. "Filling" is disgusting and is not southern no matter how many yankees who move to Georgia and say it is. The official food of the Republic of Nasatroe is dressing. Dressing is sometimes confused with "Stuffing", but that is a gross stereotype. The difference between dressing and stuffing is that dressing is half white and half cornbread. Also, Dressing is actually cooked. The Government of Nasatroe recognizes that sweet cornbread is not southern cornbread. Southern Cornbread is best served with buttermilk and dunked in the buttermilk. Crackling cornbread is also accepted. Culture is very important within the Republic of Nasatroe and is present in everyday life within the republic. The Ministry of Domestic Policy has plans to establish a school within the republic that will be located in Victoria. The National Art Museum is located in Victoria. This museum has a collection of over 15 pieces.
Media
The media of the Republic of Nasatroe is all owned by the government. Private channels are broadcasted to the republic from the United States of America, but all media produced within the Republic of Nasatroe is created by the government. The main outlet for media is Nasatraian Central News. This newspaper offers weather reports, editorials, and just news. The Ministry of Domestic Policy is planning a new television station that will use livestream to broadcast. Other micronational newspapers are commonly read within the republic including the St. Charlian Observer, the Egtavian Star, and old copies of Erusian Central News.
