The USTRM, more commonly known as Maluhia, was a micronation based in Sydney, Australia.

It was the successor to the Ewigesreich and Fridenia. The Ewigesreich, established in mid-2017, lasted for four months, when its Kaiser/Fuhrer abdicated and quit the community forever, resulting in an hour-long power struggle known as the Schisma. Fridenia, however, was meant to be another attempt at reinstating the Ewigesreich, but lasted one month instead, being dissolved by a revolution.

The Republic of Maluhia was governed by a House of Advocates, elected from four political parties: the Dauchists, Liberal Socialists, Federal Progressives and the Economic Endeavour. The Chief Advocate makes laws in the interest of the people and passes it down to the House of Advocates, who then approve or reject the proposed law via popular vote.

Etymology

Maluhia derives its name from the Hawaiian word, “Peace”, after the revolution of January 2021 changed the capital, main language, and name of the country. Its predecessor was “Fridenia,” which was a similar meaning in German.

“Maluhia“ itself is “peace” in Hawaiian, but since the prefix “ia” is already there, the government changed the translation to “Land of Peace,” to be used when omitting the “Republic of” from the name. If one were to call the nation by its full name, Republic of Maluhia, it would be “Republic of Peace”.

History

Origins

Maluhia itself originated as the Ewigesreich, a fascist dictatorship governed by a single person. However, the Kaiser, named Vance Holt, abdicated from the throne in mid-September, causing a power struggle as his advisors and common citizens fought for the throne. The government collapsed and with the abdication, the Ewigesreich dissolved.

Fridenian Revolution

Four years later, the Federation of Fridenia was established, as a reincarnation of the Ewigesreich. It was an ultranationalist dictatorship, but the oppressed citizens revolted after one month.

The revolution stretched on for 76 minutes, as the government’s handful of enforcers staved off the populace, as the nation had not yet established a standing military. The rebels advanced towards Silberstadt, as another rebel task force took Kholtgrad, ex-Kaiser Holt’s partially-completed capital/treehouse, just outside the back walls of Silberstadt.

The government fled to the upper tier of the capital, barricading themselves in the Presidential Chamber, which was breached by rebels a short time later. The Administrator, leader of the federation, was exiled to Maluhia’s foreign colonies. The cabinet were stripped of their positions and returned to citizenship, and a provisional government was established, causing the nation to be renamed to Maluhia, and the capital to be shifted to Seestadt, instead of Silberstadt, which was Vance Holt’s residence.

Pyrinthian Conflict

Shortly after the Republic’s formation, Another micronation, the Pyrinthian Order/Empire, declared war on the republic, hoping to convert it into a socialist dictatorship. Tensions had been rising between the two, because of the Fridenian Revolution and the new republic.

The Pyrinthians launched an assault on Silberstadt, but were repelled from the micronation’s spiritual home after a siege of half an hour. Another contingent of invaders encircled Seestadt, and vicious fighting broke out around the house, with a large portion of the forces fighting in Constitution Park, the capital’s gathering ground and lawn. Out in the park, the outnumbered Pyrinthians engaged in various skirmishes, as more forces fought on the other side of Sydney, in the overseas colonies.

Meanwhile at sea, the Pyrinthians conducted a 2-man beach landing, but were driven away by the Republic of Maluhia’s navy. In the air, the Maluhians wreaked havoc on enemy forces with their Air Force

However, after one hour, the last Pyrinthian division was encircled by the Republic’s remaining soldiers. With this came the Pyrinthian Surrender, and the Treaty of Nuevo Roma, where Pyrinthia agreed to cede their colonies to Maluhia, and pay 2,000 Pyrinthian Hyperpyrons to the Maluhians as reparations.

The conflict was a costly one, and inflicted major economic loss on the already-crippled Maluhian economy, though the acquisition of Pyrinthia’s colonies benefited the Maluhians greatly.

A new republic

On 7 July, the USTRM, or the United Sovereign Territories and Republics of Maluhia, was formed via a merger. This brought a population boom, and a great economical advantage over weakened Pyrinthia.

After the war, Maluhia merged with several micronations and expanded the nation, also making new land claims. Two overseas colonies with one citizen each were established in Melbourne, one colony with one citizen founded in Brisbane, and spheres of influence opened up in Tasmania and New Zealand.

More citizens joined, and an Overseas Territory with 1 citizen was founded in the United States.

End of the republic

On 16 July, the Chief Advocate announced the dissolution of the Republic due to poor management and family issues. All 84 citizens left, and the republic was no more. The Principality of Itabel was granted independence, and dissolved a day later. The United Pyrinthian Republic continued for another week, and disbanded on the 24th of July. A successor micronation, the Feratese Confederation, was planned but it never came into existence. A few instances of bedroom micronations continued for another few days, like the Second Maluhian Empire, but collapsed due to lack of motivation.

It has been one month since the USTRM dissolved. This micronation should be considered lost forever

Politics and government

Maluhia was a Socialist and Progressive Union of multiple territories, run by a democratic government made up of four major parties: The Dauchists, Liberal Socialists, Federal Progressives and the Economic Endeavour, along with 20 minor parties (most prominently the People’s Welfare Party and Family League) that balanced the power of the parties. Every four months there was an election, decided by popular vote (people’s vote), and the three parties who scored the highest progress went to the next stage, while the party which scored the least was eliminated from the election, but was still able to vote for their representative party or sided with another party to form a coalition. The minor parties underwent the same process and had the same guidelines.

The second stage of the election was exactly like the first, but this time eliminated another few parties and allowing coalitions to form again.

The third stage is where votes were recounted, the public got to vote on the final candidates and the final elimination was dealt.

After that, the winning party‘s leader would be elected to office.

Party ideologies

The Dauchists were an ultranationalist group interested in military expansion and industrialisation.

The Federal Progressives were the most popular party at the time of writing, and promise more gender/race rights, a universal healthcare system, free education, environmental protection and general freedom.

The Economic Endeavour focused on the expansion of the market and tries to secure equal access to stocks for all.

The Liberal Socialists were Neo-Communists that focus on collectivisation of resources but grant gender and race rights.

Law and order

The Maluhian Justice system followed the Napoleonic Code and was based off of the American Court system, with multiple tiers of courts and punishments ranging from probation to exile.

Under the constitution, the micronation supportEd assisted suicide, free healthcare and the abolishment of nationalism, as the government claimed that nationalism was “tearing people apart and seeding instability in many great and strong nations”.

Foreign relations

Maluhia maintained a military alliance with the South Arctic Islands Empire, and sent them munitions in the Arctic-Argentina War. It kept friendly or neutral relations with other micronations as well.

Military

Maluhia’s standing military

Out of the 84 citizens in total, 25 weee military personnel, 20 of them active and 5 reserves. The military was split into three divisions: the Schlatkorps (army), Farzeugkorps (navy) and Luftabteilung (Air Force). The military consisted of 15 infantrymen, all equipped with standard-issue G36 gel blasters (formerly airsoft guns, outlawed by the Seestadt Convention) and a gel pistol as a secondary.

The Special Forces Divison was housed in the US Overseas Territory, and specialise in modifying gel blasters and airsoft guns.

The Air Force was wholly automated with 1 mechanic/overseer, comprising of drones and automated kamikaze planes, or “gliding foam replicas”, as some may say.

The Navy was in possession of two troop transport dinghys, used for maritime operations, five cruisers/canoes and one battleship or kayak named MNS Cirwood.

Flag

The flag is an inverted version of Gabon’s, with seven stars each symbolising Freedom, Justice, Peace, Unity, Government, the people, and hope. In the middle is a cutout of the Maluhian land claim in Sydney, and the three colours, Blue, green and yellow, each represent Unity, Nature and freedom/libertarianism.

Fridenia’s flag was a cog, symbolising the ever-turning wheel of time, and the black represented the power the republic held.

The Ewigesreich was a different matter, as its flag was not evaluated.

Economy

Maluhia used the Token Standard, which determined the value of its banknotes by linking it with the value of a copper token bought from an arcade chain in China. Their main exports were usually food, garden herbs and vegetables. The Maluhian Ducat

(D$) is currently worth 0.16 Molossian Valora, and 100 D$ is equal to 563.97 Pyrinthian Hyperpyrons. The stock market was dominated by Maluhian agricultural conglomerates, like Malufoods, a group of 10 people who mainly exported and sold fruit to other neighbours. The nation’s annual GDP was 1.2 million Ducats per year, and the average citizen earned 89,000 ducats a year, with the richest earning 160,000 ducats a year.

Maluhia has seen massive economic growth lately, due to a citizenship boom and the printing of more cash. To stabilise the cash’s value, the banknotes are backed up with fake coins called Kiloi, with 1000 Kiloi being the equivalent of 100 ducats.

Culture and media

The Republic of Maluhia put a heavy emphasis on art and culture. In its education programme, art was a mainstay, and many religions have recently sprung up around the micronation, such as Buddhism and Roman Catholicism, as well as newly-created religions like the Cult of the Dawn, who worship one supreme creator of the universe similar to Christianity.
