The Republic of Kroneland, more commonly known as Kroneland, is a micronation in Vancouver, Canada. It claims the territory of "Ermen Island" along the Fraser River.

Kroneland was founded on August 10, 2020, and is made up of 6 states with a Forward Testing Site far away. The current leaders of Kroneland are Prime Minister Ryden Wiebe and Head Minister Bryce Phee. To become a citizen of the Republic of Kroneland, one does not need to reside within the areas of Vancouver. We also offer the positions of diplomats and ambassadors to those that live far away.
Etymology
The name "Kroneland" means "Crown Land" in German, representing how the island nation is the crown jewel of the Kronelandic people, and the most precious and important part of the country.
History
The Dawn of a Nation (Aug 10, 2020 to Feb 2021)
Founded on August 10th 2020, Kroneland first originated as a unnamed and uninhabited island. The surrounding land traces it's history back thousands of years. During this time, the land around Kroneland was inhabited by the Indigenous people of the west coast. The surrounding communities changed during the colonial era of Canada, where the area around it was quickly taken by colonizers and industrialized during the 1700s and 1800s.
The founding principals of Kroneland existed before the formation of the government and the nation. Over a lunchtime discussion, the soon to be Head Minister, Bryce Phee, and the soon to be Prime Minister, Ryden Wiebe, decided the best way to combine their passion and principals was to form a new nation. The project went through many early iterations, with the most notable being the "Grand Federation of Aulesia" (pronounced uh-loo-zhuh). The founding principals were similar to modern-day Kroneland, but the way people were meant to be organized was much more structured and allowed for less freedoms. The 'Aluesia' phase of the nation was short-lived, but served as a useful starting ground for the new republic.
Kroneland, Pre-Independence (Feb 2021 to Nov 2023)
The new name Kroneland was originally created to describe a monarchy on which the nation was initially founded. A common propaganda slogan used during this time period expresses the former mindset of the leaders:
"Kroneland, Kroneland
Ruled by the Monarch's hand.
Divine right of birth,
The crown mightily stands."
The now iconic tricolor flag also went through many design changes around this time. Common features of former flags included eagles and Nordic crosses. The colors of the current flag each represent their own qualities that Head Minister Bryce Phee found suited the nation. The blue, white, and grey each represent respectively: Stability, Honor, and Wisdom.
Kroneland developed an extensive structure for the Armed Forces, including but not limited to: Naval forces, Land forces, Air Forces, Space forces, and Janitor forces. Following this, a rumor spread amongst citizens that after Bryce Phee and Ryden Wiebe played a survival game based upon zombies, the nation was developing contingency plans for this scenario. Head Minister Bryce Phee declined to comment on this rumor.
On May 23, 2021, Kroneland unveiled its first supercomputer "VitaEthereal".[1] This supercomputer, still in operational condition, has an estimated value of $50 USD. VitaEthereal was not given any tasks of significance, but Prime Minister Ryden Wiebe has stated as recently as November 23, 2023, that the government was still planning to use it towards forwarding "National interests" and that it would be put to greater use when "OpenAI releases GPT-5 or similar".
May 26, 2021 brought the division of the nation into states. Ermen Island was seperated into 6 distinct states. Sieve was named the capital of the republic. Being positioned at the center of the island, Sieve is naturally above water at all tides. Delstock, the West end of Kroneland, provides the only land border with Canada. This border is mainly made of rocks. The border (and part of Delstock) become submerged under the water of the Fraiser River at high tide. Because of this, Ermen Island is only sometimes a "true island". This land bridge allows for possible access to Kroneland from Canada.
Across from Delstock, to the East, lies Aspoint. Aspoint is the largest state of the nation (at low tide). The southern coastline of Aspoint is confirmed to consist of small rocks. It is unknown as of November 24, 2023 what the makeup of the northern shore is. All things known about Ermen island have been determined by analyzing historical satellite images of the area. It is speculated that the prime and head ministers will make a trip to the island in the future to properly document the area. The trip will also be used to search and document the true size of the nation, alongside any possible natural resources. This journey has not yet been made as of Nov 25, 2023.
The northern shore of Ermen Island is taken up by the state of Kust. The extent of Kust depends on the tide, but is predicted to be smaller than Aspoint.
The southern shore of the island is rocky and holds two, much smaller, states. Louiston and Sormont occupy the South coast, and are frequently underwater. Because of this, little is known about their composition and maximum size.
Sieve is the capital and heart of the nation. It contains the majority of Kroneland's resources and is always above water. It is unknown exactly what resources reside within Sieve, but there is confirmed to be driftwood and predicted to be various forms of vegetation.
As of November 25, 2023, the Republic of Kroneland has not yet formally declared independence of Canada. It does operate by itself, bit the separation is not finalized yet. Prime Minister Ryden Wiebe has stated that "A [formal] declaration of independence will be signed after first traveling to and taking step on Ermen Island."
Politics and government
As of Dec 2, 2023, The Republic of Kroneland is managed by Prime Minister Ryden Wiebe and Head Minister Bryce Phee. Kroneland uses a system called "Derism" where a leader that is not democratically elected oversees the government, but those in positions below them are selected through a democratic process. The Kronelandic Government is made up of multiple ministries and services to help run Kroneland as an ideal nation.
Law and order
The Ministry of Justice carries out all law enforcement and judicial duties to uphold the justice and order of Kroneland. Unlike most countries, the Police Service is part of the Ministry of Justice.
Foreign relations
The Republic of Kroneland is currently seeking diplomatic ties with any other Micronation in the area, or abroad.
Defense and Military
The Ministry of Defense oversees the Kronelandic Defense Forces, the primary military force of Kroneland. They ensure the safety and security of the skies, coasts, and lands to maintain the sovereignty of the nation. To join the Defense Forces one must be a Kronelandic citizen, willing to come to events, and willing to maintain their issued gear.
Geography and climate
The Republic of Kroneland is an island, with the Fraser River bordering it's western coasts and a slightly disconnected land border with Canada. Kroneland's weather mainly depends on the season, ranging from a warm paradise to a snowy wonderland. Prime Minister Ryden Wiebe and Head Minister Bryce Phee are planning to visit the island make better environmental assessments about the composition of the land.
Economy
The economy of Kroneland is mainly made up by the agriculture and media industry.
Culture and media
Kroneland has it's own cuisine and news channel. Some popular dishes of Kroneland are Kronefries, fries drenched in mariana sauce, cheese, and basil or spinach. Kronefries are usually served with meatballs or sausage as well. Another dish heavily favoured by Kronelanders is the Repfel, a perfect refreshing summertime snack. Slices of apple lightly sprayed and coated with mint juice.
The Kronelandic News Corporation, KNC, is the media channel and main news broadcaster for Kroneland. Funded by and supported by the government, the KNC helps us keep updated with the world and our nation.
