The Republic of Fieldila, more commonly known as Fieldila, is a micronation in Stenhousemuir, Scotland. It was formed on 24 June 2022 by Ross Paterson, President. It consists of several territories located across the local area.

The Republic of Fieldila presents itself as democratic, however they may be considered slightly right-wing.

They try to have a positive relationship with most Micronations, however they have never met any others. President Paterson once had an idea for a union of micronations in Western Europe, but as of now he has not went through with it.

Etymology

The name ‘Fieldila’ came into existence a little before the nation was founded. Paterson and his friends (most of which are now A-People) had long since called the area The Field, and the rest was down to Paterson’s idea that sticking 3 random letters after something makes it sound like a country.

The individual zones are named after letters of the Greek Alphabet. No one knows why, not even Paterson himself.

History

Fieldila was founded on 24 June 2022 at Carron School, President Paterson’s first place of education. The first territory (now known as Zone Alpha) is a communal garden (previously known as the Field) at the end of Paterson’s street. Paterson founded Fieldila for an unknown reason, but whenever asked why he did it, he just replies ‘I was bored, so I started a country.’ This day was to be commemorated as National Day of Independence.

On 16 December 2022, President Paterson’s 12 closest friends were awarded citizenship, and later A-Person status. Since this day, the positions are occasionally rotated. This was to allow some other people to have some power in the country, and also because citizens are good for a micronation. This day was to be commemorated as Citizen’s Day.

On 21 March 2023, a national anthem was picked, named ‘Rule Fieldila’. It is sung to the tune of British patriotic song ‘Rule Britannia’. Paterson had originally considered a competition among the A-People about picking it, but he never did. This was to be commemorated as National Identity Day.

On 9 May 2023, Fieldila announced plans to invade a nearby forest-like area next to a bigger field. It was named Project Zone Beta. Originally, Paterson was unsure on whether to do the Greek alphabet or the Phonetic alphabet, but he settled on the Greek.

On 13 May 2023, Fieldila invaded three territories in the local area as part of Project Zone Beta. These individual territories were named Zone Beta, Zone Gamma and Zone Delta. They also consist of fields with trees. This was to be commemorated as Expansion Day, and as a tradition, Fieldila’s claims will all be visited on this day in years to come.

On 24 June 2023, Fieldila celebrated a year of existence by announcing a plan for what it has dubbed the ‘Summer of Expansion’. This was intended to mean not just claiming new territories (Paterson never ruled out the chance of Fieldila becoming a democratic empire), but also hoping to gain micronational allies.

On 7 July 2023, Fieldila claimed yet another territory in the local area, Zone Epsilon. It is one of Fieldila’s biggest territories and continues the Fieldilan standard of claiming fields with trees.

Flag and Coat of Arms

The flag of Fieldila was designed on launch day. It is a pale blue flag with 4 red stripes and in the middle, a white circle holds a green tree. The presidential standard is the same but contains the coat of arms in the white circle. Following Project Zone Beta, every Fieldilan territory will receive its own flag.

Political structure

Fieldila is a slightly right-wing but mostly central one-party presidential republic. It is ruled by one person, President Ross Paterson. He has 12 officials known as A-People, and the chief of this group is H-AP Toby Robertson. Roberson is probably Paterson’s best friend, and he leads the A-People. Paterson will do all other major government roles himself.

Foreign Relations

Fieldila is mostly solitary, but wishes to change that. Paterson had an idea circa June 2023 of an union/alliance with other micronations in Western Europe, but as of now he is still in the planning phase. He will call this organisation the Union of Micronations in Western Europe (UMWE for short).

Recognition

All UN member nations, minus Russia (Paterson dislikes their regime) and North Korea (he hates them even more).

All members of the GUM.

In the future, he will recognise anyone who joins the UMWE.

Culture

Fieldila’s national anthem is ‘Rule Fieldila. It is a 2-line song sung to the tune of ‘Rule Britannia’: Rule Fieldila, Fieldila rules the trees - Fielders never ever ever shall be dazed!

The national sports of Fieldila are golf (summer), sledging (winter) and chess (indoor).

The national animal of Fieldila is the bee.

There are 5 public holidays: 24 June (National Day of Independence), 16 December (Citizen’s Day),15 July (Founder’s Day), 21 March (National Identity Day) and 13 May (Expansion Day).

Population

The population of Fieldila is just 1, but there are 12 A-People (major officials): President Paterson and his closest friends.
