The Republic of Chico is a micronation located in the South American nation of Peru. It is bordered in the north and east by Peru, in the south by the Repiblic of Hortania, and in the west by the Pacific Ocean. It also has many exterior territories and colonies located around the world. Chico is leading micronation is micronational study and research and, thanks to the cultures inherited by it's macronation, was home to many ancient civilizations and has a very diverse culture. The micronation originally was formed in the United States, however due to many political and economic problems, it was relocated in Peru with the capital of New Sol Rojo being the hub for large scale reforms which Chico is still undergoing. The Republic of Chico is a democratic, unitary republic divided into provinces in the mainland and into colonies and territories outside the mainland. It is a medium-high developing micronation whose main economic activities include selling of produce, small-scale tourism, and manufacturing. The chicean population is estimated to be around 500 not counting the many absorbed communities and the unaware population.

Etymology

The micronation's name derives from an event that happened very early it's history. The event surrounds the president of Chico, Jose Gibaja, who was roaming around the ruins of the Second Republic of the Colonies (An earlier culture which existed before Chico) when he stumbled upon an injured dove and a young girl trying to nurse the wounded animal who had named it "Chico". When the young girl left,Gibaja took the bird to his home were he nursed it back to health. Days passed and the bird had found a way out of the cage and flew away. The event inspired Gibaja to make a new micronation and the name of the dove was used as the name for the new nation. Since the republic was small and the name "Chico" means small in Spanish, the name made sense.

History

Chico's history is divided into 2 different timelines; Micronational History and Inherited History. Chico's micronational history focuses on Chico and it's past cultures who are deemed as micronations in their own right. The inherited history focuses on the history of Chico's territory which embodies any ancient civilization that inhabited that territory. The micronational history is divided up into 3 eras; Pre-Gibajian Era, Gibajian Era, and the Republican Era. Each era is also divided into periods which help differentiate the cultures between each era.

Pre-Gibajian Era

The Pre-Gibjian Era is any time before the arrival of Jose Gibaja in the Colony of Chico Viejo. This era is marked with many groups which acted like micronations although were unaware of the existence of such entities.

Pre-Sunset Period

This period is given to any group of people who acted much like micronations before the foundation of the Republic of Sunset. This includes the Empire of Sunset which was a group of vandalistic adolescents who inhabited the modern-day Colony of Chico Viejo. This empire fell due to the arrival of Jose Gibaja whose forces placed pressure on the group with physical attacks. The group lost support and settled peace with Gibaja in Liberty Square marking the end of the Pre-Gibajian Era.

Gibajian Era

The Gibajian Era is anytime after the arrival of Gibaja but before the foundation of the Republic of Chico. Like the Pre-Gibajian Era, it is marked with groups that acted like micronations but were unaware of the exsistence of such entities. However, during this era, the groups resemble micronations more.

First Republic Period

During this period, Gibaja founded the Republic of Sunset. Although still unaware of the existence of micronations, he formed an organized state that had and maintained it's own culture. However the loose republic lost momentum due to Gibaja temporarily becoming uninterested. The groups of people who he had united soon separated into smaller groups who fought among each other in an event known as the Great Separation. When Gibaja caught wind of the uproar, the groups were too uncooperative and refused to unite once more putting an end to this period.

The Colonial Period

This period marked the arrival of two brothers known as the "Robins". Gibaja tried to befriend the two brothers, but a heated discussion ended the friendship and a grudge was formed between the Robins and Gibaja. By this time, the Robins already had a large influence over the people of Sunset and quickly began excluding Gibaja and his followers from the rest of community. Later on, the Robins and their followers began vandalizing the territory and Gibaja, attempting to escape from the Robins created a small group with his followers known as SSI. This group's mission was to find a place untouched from the Robins' influence and vandalism, the group eventually found a land and dubbed the new terrain The Colony of Eagle de Condor. This "colony" eventually grew into a large republic and was renamed the Republic of the Colonies. This micronation, like the Republic of Sunset, was also unaware of the existence of other micronations and became unintentionally became an organized state. It came to end when the Robins found the settlements made by the micronation and destroyed them. This was followed by a revival attempt known as the Second Republic of the Colonies but it was short lived and was quickly destroyed by the Robins as well.

The Republican Era

This era marked the foundation of the Republic of Chico which was the first to become aware of the existence of micronations and was also the most culturally diverse.

English Translation: We are free! May we always be so, may we always be so! and let the lights be denied before the lights, the lights...of the sun! Before we break the solemn vow which the fatherland elevated to the Eternal.
