Rayalechaur, also officially referred to as the Capital City of Rayalechaur is the national capital of Bhalam and also the capital city of the province of Gandaki. Rayalechaur is the seat of the nation's executive, hosting the Raj Niwas, the official residence of the King. The city was formed on 6 December 2023 as a result of the Cities and administrative divisions Act, 2023 of the Parliament of Bhalam.
Etymology
The term "Rayal" is derived from "Raja" or "Rajya" in Sanskrit, meaning king or kingdom. In this context, "Chaur" is refered to an open space or meadow. Therefore, "Rayalechaur" is potentially translate to "King's Meadow" or a similar royal designation, reflecting its historical association with a monarch.
