Saripesia, officially the Principality of Saripesia is a micronation founded on the 28 February 2019.
Etymology
The name Saripesia is derived from the first two letters of the three main islands that make up Saripesia, Saint Huberts Island, Rileys Island and Pelican Island, and the suffix -(s)ia.
History
Formation
Saripesia declared its independence from Australia on 20 November 2018 as the "Republic of Saripesia".
Expansion
On 6 December 2018 the Saripesian government announced the Saripesian Expansion Initiative which aims to expand the territory of the nation, starting with the land of Lion Island becoming part of the nation. On 8 December, the land of Bundeena and Maianbar also became a part of Saripesia.
Reformation
The original Republic of Saripesia was dissolved on the 28 February 2019 and reformed as the "Principality of Saripesia".
