Palacio or Palace (Common name within Politics instead of the spanish version) is a country that is part of The United Duchy. It is located in California.

Etymology

The word Palacio is a Spanish word for Palace. The Government uses the English version.

History

The territory in which Palacio is located was claimed by the Spanish in 1776. Spanish missionary Father Francisco Garcés became the first European to explore the area. The area used to be a Mexican territory. The area north was also occupied by the Yokuts indians. The Californian Gold Rush brought settlers in. On December 1, 2012 Palacio gained it's Independence from Balmex. Negotiations between the two countries ended up forming The United Duchy.

Government and politics

Palace is a country that is part of The United Duchy. So it sends one representative to the Ducal Assembly to represent Palace in congress. There, laws about governing are made. Palace has mostly wildlife and natural territory, so special laws that apply to Palace are made by the Council of Palacio. That is the local government.

Geography and climate

Summers are hot, with 108 days per year above 90 °F (32 °C); in addition, there are 36 days above 100 °F (38 °C) from late May to mid-September, and a 110 °F (43 °C) day can be seen every few years. During winter, Palacio sees very dense thick fog. Snow is rare In Palacio; however, it does snow in Palacio about once every 20 to 30 years. Palacio is also part of the worst air quality zones in the United States.
