The Empire of Pabistan, more commonly known as 'Pabistan', is a micronation landlocked within Massachusetts, United States. Due to it's international membership, It's primary activities take place within the digital space of Minecraft.

Pabistan was founded 27 December 2020, by JayPab, and has existed primarily through the virtual world, where it's core territory exists within the video game Minecraft. Pabistan technically was founded 10 months earlier in February 2020, however JayPab never made it public nor declared it to be a micronation in any scope. Pabistan is a member of the League of Independent Nations, joining as a provisional member in 7 May 2022 and becoming a full member on 1 November 2022.

History

Pabistan was founded on 27 December 2020. At the time it was simply a small town located within JayPab's Minecraft world, however it soon grew as more people came to join the nation. JayPab was crowned as Emperor 17 January 2021, thus legally beginning The Empire of Pabistan. Pabistan dealt with it's first secession crisis in May 2021, when the Duke of Pesco-Constanzo, a town in Pabistan, declared it's independence. This resulted in the outbreak of the 12 Day War, lasting only 12 days in Minecraft before The Empress, Cindy, forced The Emperor and the Duke to enter negotiations. It incorporated it's first Imperial Province when it purchased the Grand Duchy of Elysium on 14 July 2021.

Politics and government

Pabistan exists primarily as an Imperial form of Government, modeled after the Roman Principate. The primary Head of State is The Emperor, whom is Commander in Chief of the military. The primary legislative body is The Senate, formally known as the "Senatus Populusque Pabistanus". The government has been restructured several times over its history, mainly after its most severe civil conflicts, such as the 12-Day War and the Clan Wars. Most of the offices established by the Constitution of Pabistan are vacant due to an insufficient population, so most of them have defaulted upon The Emperor and his administration.

Law and order

The Imperial Court is comprised of 5 justices who oversee the highest legal suits in The Empire. They are appointed by The Emperor with a confirmation by The Senate. They also maintain the ability to deem acts made by the government as unconstitutional.

International relations

Pabistan maintains a policy of foreign tolerance, they seek to make peace with any nation, so long as they do not interfere with Pabistani agendas. Pabistan has a Ministry of Immigration. in which people can apply to join the Empire. On 20 April 2022, The Emperor established the Pan-Roman Alliance with L'Imperium De Nova Roma. Pabistan has established a strong connection with the United States of the Rocky Mountains. As of 1 November 2022, Pabistan is has full member status in the League of Independent Nations. The Empire of Pabistan maintains a strong relationship with Imperial Kingdom of Mdesk Chdoinzarneina. On 23 October 2022, Emperor Pab was awarded the Order of Friendship of Mdtesk by King Daniel of Mdtesk. In October 2023, Emperor Pab was elected to the position of Director of Public Engagement of the LIN, and thus was put in charge of the Department of Public Engagement. In November 2023, Pabistan formally registered to join the World Micronational Chess Federation, and particpate in the 2023 Micronational World Chess Championship

Military

Pabistan officially established it's Navy on June 13, 2021, with the christening of the HIMS Green Machine. Although it had seen armed ground conflict previously, The Empire had only formally established its army during the Clan Wars in March 2022. The military is under the control of The Emperor, who is the commander in chief. The Emperor delegates his authority to the Ministry of War, and subsequently the Secretary of The Army and the Secretary of The Navy. During some ceremonies, the Minister of War is referred to as the "Magister Militum", in reference to the Ancient Roman office. On 29 October 2022, Pabistan formally established the Pabistan Imperial Air Force and Pabistan Space Command as separate branches of the Pabistan Armed Forces.

Citizenship and Suffrage

The Empire of Pabistan has a few basic requirements for citizenship, they are as follows:

Must be at least 14 years old or older.
Must not be a felon in any other country.
Must join the Discord Server
Must pay their taxes

Although citizenship is guaranteed for all people of The Empire, suffrage is not. The privilege to vote is earned by a wide range of methods:

Own land
Own a business
Serve in the Pabistan Armed Forces
Serve in law enforcement, EMT, or firefighting
Have a professional degree or certification (I.e a Masters, PhD, etc.)
Complete a trade/apprenticeship
Be a mother

The justification for such a system is to ensure that only proactive and functioning members of society have the right to make changes in government, as to prevent a class of uneducated, uninformed, and unproductive people from seizing control and enforcing tyranny on those who actually contribute to society.

Geography and climate

Pabistan's climate is a temperate forest, identical to the New England climate.

Economy

Pabistan has a free market economy, with the exception of corporations. Corporations in The Empire are seen as government-adjacent, and therefore do not reserve the same rights as individual people. In recent years, the Imperial Treasury has begun to mint official currency, minting a variety of denominations including a silver One Peso (1 Peso), a gold Doubloon (10 Pesos), a copper Elysian Cent (0.01 Pesos), and a copper Quarter Peso (0.25 Pesos).

Claims

Pabistan maintains its claims of its ancestral lands in Sagua La Grande, Cuba, which were confiscated by the Cuban government during the Communist revolution.

Culture and media

The Ministry of Art and Culture is led by Caesar Doggo. Pabistan has its own calendar system based upon Minecraft time, using the date in which the original Minecraft world was founded as the reference point.
