The National Order of Saint Michael & Gavril is the second highest and most senior order of chivalry of the Republic of Istria which was constituted on 13 April 2021 by a decree issued by then President of the Republic of Istria. The criteria of conferment of the decoration is to be conferred upon foreign personalities and istrian personalities for exceptional spiritual, cultural and public duties.

The President of Istria is the Grand Master in order to award this National Order. All deeds granting decorations of the Order must bear the signature of the President and Grand Colon.The Order is conferred in 2 grades:
