O Sarum |
O Sarum is the national anthem of the Kingdom of Sarum, adopted on 24 April 2024. The national anthem was composed by former King of Portugal and Emperor of Brazil Pedro I & IV as a new national anthem, and lyrics were written for it to become Sarum's national anthem on 24 April 2024. The anthem is named after an except from the chorus.
The anthem is used in conjunction with God Save the King, whose tune serves as the Royal Anthem of the Kingdom. Both anthems are performed at official events. During the reign of a female Monarch, the line 'King and country hand in hand' is adjusted to 'Queen and country hand in hand'
Lyrics
The lyrics of the anthem are as follows, after a short instrumental introduction and with an instrumental interval and ending, and consists of two verses and two renditions of the chorus.
The poplar trees, so tall and grand, Stand firm through storm and gale. Like our constitution, they withstand, Ensuring justice shall prevail. Ensuring justice shall prevail. In awe of thee, O Sarum grand, Where liberty is free and wide, King and country hand in hand, In the poplars' gentle sway. In the poplars' gentle sway. In Sarum's woods, the stag does roam, With grace and majesty. Its spirit free, a symbol known, Of our proud legacy. Of our proud legacy. In awe of thee, O Sarum grand, Where liberty is free and wide King and country hand in hand, In the poplars' gentle sway. In the poplars' gentle sway.
