Independence day celebrated
The Republic of Timucua celebrated it's first year of independence as a micronation on 1 August 2009. The Executive Tribal Chieftain made a speech which has the text of it posted on the governmental website. Timucua has made many strides in this year and they have an ambitious plan for the next. It is encouraged by the government that all friends and citizens and those interested in Timucua take a look at it.
New flag adopted
Due to some conflicts on identification of the nation by people, The Legislative Council of the Republic of Timucua passed the Flag Act of 2009 changing the flag of the Republic. More can be found on the homepage about this change. The flag's main reason for being changed was that people were confusing it with the flag of Somalia. Therefore the Legislative Council kept the original colors but changed the single white star to the single white square on a blue background.
