The Ministry of Defence (Thai: กระทรวงกลาโหม) is a cabinet government department of the Commonwealth of Queensland. The ministry controls and manages the Queenslandian Defence Forces to maintain national security, territorial integrity, and national Defence. The armed forces are composed of three branches: Queenslandian Ground Forces, Maritime and Cyber Command, and Royal Queensland Air Force and two special branches: Supreme Head's Guards and Queenslandian Special Force.

Organisation

The Ministry for Defence is headed by the Secretary of State for Defence, a Cabinet minister supported by the department's senior civil servant, the permanent secretary.

Chiefs of the Defence Force

The Chief of the Defence Force is the second-most senior member of the Queenslandian Armed Forces (after the commander-in-chief) having primary responsibility for command, control, and administration of the forces, as well as military strategy, plans, and requirements. The position is usually held by an Four-star general member of one of the three main branches of the Queenslandian Armed Forces.

Together the Chiefs of Staff form the Chiefs of Staff Committee with responsibility for providing advice on operational military matters and the preparation and conduct of military operations.
