Mawcawainian Flaball Legue

The Macawaninan Flaball League is a professional sports League formed in 1992. It consists of 10 teams who play the sport of Flaball. The objective of the game is to throw a paper ball into one of two buckets on the opponent's side of the field. The first game was on January 9th, 1992, between the Gilbert Ghosts and the Tempe Tigers. The final score was 10-13 with the Ghosts securing the first victory in MFL history.

Rules of Flaball

There are 2 buckets on your side of the field. Do not let the opponent throw the ball into either of these. The one on the left is worth 5 points and the one on the right is worth 10. The game is divided into small increments called "Shacks". There are 6 shacks in a game and players take a break at shack 3. If the ball is airborne, and a player catches it, their team gets a point. If there is any physical contact between players, the player who started it has their team lose 2 points, on top of that, their opponent gets 2 points. There is to be 2 players on the field at all times. The first position is called the Strikaback, pronounced strike-a-back, (Daskan for Stright-back) Thier job is to get the ball into the other team's bucket. The other position is called the Block, the block is supposed to stay behind and stop the opposing team from scoring. The block is also tasked with tossing the ball to the strikaback at the start of every play.

How the league works

The MFL has 10 teams (Gilbert Ghosts, Tempe Tigers, ShowLow Sailors, Breeze Bears, Pheonixa Peacocks, Florenca Flamingos, Tucson Canyons, Crossroads Rovers, Mesa Monkeys, and the Cooley Station Excelsior). They all compete for a spot in the Micronational world championships. In 2021 the game was between the Ghosts and the Excelsior. Ghost victory 94-35. The next championship game will be on November 24th, 2022. There are only 3 teams left who qualified the Ghosts, the Monkeys, and the Tigers. There is no projected winner as it is very close right now. However, the Ghosts are a 2 year in a row championship winner, so chances are, they will win.

Notable players

The Ghosts star player is Richard Delnickman, who joined them in 2018 after being traded from the Peacocks.

The Tigers are known for Alecto Fritterman

The Sailors have Kent Speedal who has been a good asset, getting them qualified for the championships 2 years in a row.
