Latvanian Armed Forces
The Latvanian Armed Forces are the military forces of the Kingdom of Latvania. It consists of the Army, Marine Corps, Air Force, Waters Patrol and Home Guards. The King of Latvania is the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, and appoints a Secretary of Defence to constitute a group to administrate the Warfare Command, which includes the Army, Marine Corps, Air Force and Waters Patrol (this one only during wartime), and a Secretary of Homeland Security for the administration of the Homeland Security Command, which includes Home Guards and Waters Patrol during peacetime.
The Latvanian Armed Forces never lead any war as of 2021, and all of its members (apart from the Homeland Security Command) are in a state of reserve.
The Latvanian Armed Forces were created in 2018, following the proclamation of the Kingdom in May, the Armed Forces (at the time only the Army) were approved by the government and the King as the defence forces of the Kingdom. The Constitution (its writing is still in progress), gives the Congress powers over the administration of the Armed Forces, and the King the power to use them to enforce the Constitution and declare war if necessary.
On September 27th, 2020, the Latvanian Waters Patrol led Operation Lober, which consisted in examinating the rivers and waters of Latvania to assure the good state of the Louisiana Red Crayfish and other crayfish species in the country. The operation was completed with the help of foreign assistants and it was personally led by the King and the Secretaries of Defense and Homeland Security.
