History
House of Deegan
The Land of The Places is firmly rooted in the history and life of the House of Deegan, which was founded in the nation of Ireland in 1636. The family owned a blockhouse known as the Cloncourse Castle, which was built in 1636, which has been used as the date of the formation of the family itself. It is four stories and was damaged early on in its life by the army of Oliver Cromwell, who was the military dictator of England from 1649 until his death in 1658. The blockhouse was also used as an outpost for the Irish rebels during the 1798 Irish Rebellion, which eventually saw the blockhouse get attacked. This would be the beginning of a series of interesting events where the Deegan family would have brushes with important political events and short-lived periods of political influence.
Immigration to the Americas
It is not known exactly when the Deegan family would immigrate to the Americas, but it is believed it occurred sometime in the mid-to-late 19th century. The Deegans immigrated to Pennsylvania and South Carolina generally. The land that makes up Fish Cave Land consists of land that resides in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, particularly the City of Meadville. This land was originally controlled by the British Empire through the Province of Pennsylvania, which existed from 1681 to 1776, when Pennsylvania seceded from the British Empire. However, the lands that make up Fish Cave Land remained controlled by the British as a part of British North Ameria until the signing of the Treaty of Paris in September 1783. The land would then become a part of the United States of America and eventually a man named David Mead, who would march into the land and establish the City of Meadville in 1788. The land would remain empty until a house was built on the land sometime in 1901 or 1925.
William Francis Deegan (1882-1932)
William Francis Deegan is important to the history of The Places due to his importance to the development of the eventual state ideology of The Places. William Francis Deegan was a Major in the US Army Corps of Engineers, and was responsible for the supervision of the construction of military bases while under the watch of General George W. Goethals. He also helped form the American Legion and became State Commander of the organization in 1921. He was a candidate for National Commander but was eventually prevented from taking the post due to his strong advocacy of black soldiers being allowed in the organization and due to supporting black rights in general. He eventually became a fairly distinguished architect and was eventually Tenement House Commissioner of New York City and Chairman of the Mayor's Committee on Reception to Distinguished Guests, a post which involved him being an "official greeter". He died due to complications involving an appendectomy surgery on April 3, 1932. However, his legacy would remain immensely influential later on in the history of The Places, due to him eventually serving as a sort of "standard-bearer" for state ideology, which generally promoted a military government, a strong welfare state, and culture of accountability and responsibility.
Establishment of the Land of The Places
The Land of The Places was established on 29 March, 2013. A constitution was quickly concocted, and consisted of five pages that contained a multitude of drawings that showed how the government worked.
Government
The government is split into nine "Places", which are essentially corporations, which each have a Place Director. a Place Speaker rules over the Place Directors. The constitution consists of five pages, and there are 21 points that are each divided into three parts, each for "Nationalism, Democracy, and Socialism".
Military
The Place Guards are the national military forces. They dominate the country under a system labelled as a form of Praetorianism, as the military is essentially deemed as the only force that has a right to rule.
Legal System
The legal code is based on a collection of proverbs.
