Independence
The Two Sumbrias declared independence on 25 September 2022 as previously named, Newumbria. The Kingdom of Newumbria was founded for a similar purpose as the Two Sumbrias, but with a cultural connection to the North East of England. Newumbria continued until the creation of the Kingdom of Keat on 27 March 2023.
Early Actions
The Kingdom of Keat was a second predecessor to the modern state of the Two Sumbrias, modeled after the Heptarchy Kingdom of the Kentish. The Keatish state continued until the creation of the Kingdom of Sumberland on 19 April 2023, an early iteration of Two Sumbrias. A short-lived republican experiment began on 11 May 2023 as the Commonwealth of Sumberland. The monarchy was restored as the Kingdom of the Two Sumbrias on 19 May 2023.
The Two Sumbrias
On 19 May 2023, the official name of the Sumbrian state was rewritten to include Lower Sumbria. This included a transformation of the nation's cultural appearance around the existing real union between Upper and Lower Sumbria.

National Symbols

Coat of Arms
The Two Sumbrias adopted the Grand Union Flag as its national flag. It is not known for certain when or by whom the design of the Grand Union Flag was created, but the flag could easily be produced by sewing white stripes onto the British Red Ensigns. The first flag to be flown has been credited to Margaret Manny. The Grand Union Flag has 13 alternating red and white stripes, representative of the Thirteen Colonies. The upper inner corner, or canton, featured the flag of the Kingdom of Great Britain, of which the colonies had been subjects.
The King had chosen the Grand Union Flag as a symbol of the nation's heritage as mixture of British and American culture.
Provinces and Territories
The Two Sumbrias is composed of Provinces and Crown Colonies, each with their own respective forms of governance. Provinces are constituent lands of the Kingdom governed directly by the King. Crown Colonies are founded by citizens abroad, administered by governors appointed by the King.
