Overview
The Kingdom of Craigland, also known as Craigland, was a Micronation in North America formed in early 2018. Craigland consists of 5 mainland provinces and one detached province. With a population just under 5, Craigland was the world’s least populated nation until it's formal disbandment on the 17th of April, 2020. The Micronation had major influence on Micronaional affairs and had, according to a April 2019 poll, a 81.8% approval rating by twenty two other micronations.
History
What is now known as the Kingdom of Craigland began as two separate independent Micronations known as Craiglin and Epikslanida. in 2018, the leaders of Craiglin and Epikslandia would find itself into conflict with another Micronation by the name of the Highlands Republic. Craiglin and Epikslandia's leaders would view their Communist influence spreading as a threat to Craigland and began to communicate with the Highland's leadership. The two nations would find peace with one another the next day. This interaction would open the former states of Craiglin and Epikslanida to the Micronational community. The two micronations would unify into the Kingdom of Craigland on the 19th of March, 2019. This was done to simplify governing powers and relations with other nations with the two former Micronations being given Provincial status in the new Kingdom. On the 9th of April, 2019, a third Province titled 'Kerick' would be added into the Kingdom Within the next year, Craigland would began relations with several other Micronations such as Wikonga, Darta, the Highlands and UNAR. On the first of June, 2019, Wikonga and Craigland would sign a deal to teporarly admit the Kingdom of Craigland as a protectorate of El Renio de Wikonga. This treaty, along with other similar treaties signed by other micronations to become Wikongan Protectorates caused outrage within the Micronational community and several nations accused Wikonga of Imperialism. In late 2018, Craigland regained it's independence as planned by the original treaty with other nations following since. At 10:00 PM on the 17th of April, 2020, the first and only Prime Minister of Craigland would official disband the Kingdom of Craigland. The Kingdom of Craigland would once again become apart of the United States of America that same evening.
Time in the Union of Free states
Craiglander leaders would, in June of 2019, propose a Union for all micronations to settle disputes. The idea transformed into the Union of Free states with over 10 member states in the first month. The Union had daily meetings informing member states on current afairs. The union had it’s share of issues however. A rival union known as the Trident alliance sent spies into the UFS posing as a nation looking to join. This caused a fierce debate among the UFS on how to respond. Craigland supported the idea of allowing Trident alliance members in the UfS to obtain better communication while UNAR (United North American Republic ) fiercely opposed any contact with them. After 3 days, a agreement was reached among the member states, a representative from the Trident alliance would be allowed in the UFS and a representative from the UFS would be allowed in the Trident alliance. Despite the peace brought by this, it only increased spying and the Trident alliance would disband months later. The deal by the UFS also brought forward elections by each member state for a leader of the UFS. The two main candidates were Craigland and UNAR.
Communist Conflicts
Craigland and it’s leaders were prime supporters of Freedom and anti-communist. This brought them into many conflicts with Communist nations. The first of many was the Highlands war in January 2019. Craigland and the former Highlands socialist republic fought very breifly for just under one day. The war was non violent and both sides Peacefully ended any fighting.The second encounter with communists was the Crimson conflicts between Craigland and the Crimson democractic people’s republic.
Disbandment
Disinterest by Government leaders in further being involved in Micronational Politics and in running the Craigland Government caused citizens to agree to formally disband the Kingdom. At 10:00 PM on the 17th of April, 2020, the first and only First Premier of Craigland would official disband the Kingdom of Craigland. The Kingdom of Craigland would once again become apart of the United States of America that same evening. The flag of the Kingdom of Craigland would be lowered and the flag of the United States and the State flag would be raised again over the territory. As Craigland never formally held control over the small territory in modern day Canada, the claimed territory would be ignored by Craigland leaders while disbanding the nation.
Provinces
Craigland is made up of 5 provinces and one overseas province. The provinces are, in order of date of founding, Craigland, Epikslandia, Kerick, Goosetopia, Christown and Konara. Craigland was the first province created originaly as a separate nation, split into two with one half remaining Craigland and the other half now being known as Epikslandia. This was because of a dispute over how many representatives being allowed per nation by the UFS (Union of Free states). Craigland and Epikslandia became one nation, the Kingdom of Craigland. Overtime, Kerick province was added to give long time a citizen a province to govern. Goosetopia and Christown were created for similar reasons.
National Defenses
As Craigland was a small national with it's highest recorded population only being ten, National defense was not a priority to citizens nor Government, Despite this, however, Craigland did have one small Fishing boat under it's control. This ship would be titled the 'RCS Craig' (Royal Craigland Ship). Upon disbandment of the nation, the RCS Craig would be returned to civilian control. The RCS Craig was never used for defensive purposes, but only for recreation for citizens.
