The Kingdom of Agria, colloquially referred to as Agria or Holly, is a small micronation occupying 2 square miles of land on the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States of America. It has close to 70 residents living in it's claimed territory and seven legal citizens. It's capital is Arroyo City in the Province of Arroyo. Its government type is Feudal Elective Monarchy and it is ruled by Brett I of Ryan. The nation was formed on December 27, 2021 and declared independence January 19, 2022.
Etymology
Agria is a mixture of the word Agriculture, meaning the practice of farming, and the suffix -ia, meaning land of. Therefore, Agria is the land of Agriculture. The term "Holly" was coined as an alternate name due to the large holly tree growing on a hill overlooking the claimed land.
History
Formation
The Kingdom of Agria was formed on December 27 of 2021 by Brett I of Ryan. It was made to combat littering and violence in his neighborhood and to provide welfare for the impoverished citizens. The constitution began drafting in late December and has yet to be completely finished.
Alpha Period
On January 14, 2022, King Brett I of Ryan seized provincial government and the parliament, as well as ratifying Section 9, Article V, which established that upon vacancies in Parliament or State Government, the power vested in each body respectively will be taken by the king until the vacancy ends. The day after, he would declare the constitution as unusable and create the Ius Imperii.
Government
Due to it's small size, Agria adheres to a Monarchist system of government, featuring noble titles assigned to leaders of different jurisdictions. The parliament and king have monthly meetings to discuss which direction the nation should move.
Economy
The nation is young, yet it has a strong economy mostly held by donations and payment through yardwork and several other activities that provide for the environment and the government. The main currency is the USD, with the Ministry of Currency embarking on adventures into cryptocurrency and mintage of an independent currency.
Geography
The nation experiences a wide range of temperatures and conditions throughout the seasons. Rain is common in the region.
Politics
Agria is a Feudal Elective Monarchy, the king has final say in everything. The people agree or disagree on the passing of motions and if 2/3 of the people agree, the motion is ratified. Currently the leading party is the Independent Party.
Provinces
Agria is composed of five Provinces, ruled by dukes. They are granted the right to create local constitutions, but if not then the National Constitution simply overrides it.
Population
The population of Agria is rather homogenous with 85% of the population being white, the other 15% being asian. The religion in the nation however is very diverse, with Protestants just barely making up 50% of the nation.
