The Independent Republic of Brogenia is a micronation founded on February 2, 2011. It is located in North America and since it's foundation, it has gone through war, reform, and prosperity. Brogenia is an active member of the micronational community and participates and contributes to micronational organizations and other micronational events.
Etymology
On the day of its foundation, President Nim Chesworth began to think of a name for the newly created micronation and thought of the name of Brogenia.
History
Brogenia was founded on February 2, 2011. After a few weeks since the creation of the micronation, it became inactive for almost 7 months until early September 2011 when President Nim Chesworth improved and reformed Brogenia, and this period became known as the Golden Age of Brogenia. During the Golden Age, however, rebel leaderAmanda Chesworth began a series of multiple raids on Brogenia which became known as the Intrusian War (September 24, 2011 – September 26, 2011). After, she began to take over land and renaming it the Republic of Youngeria. President Nim Chesworth sent military troops to stop her, and at the Battle of the Gateway on September 26, 2011, Brogenian military troops surrounded the rebel and Amanda Chesworth was forced to surrender. She signed the Treaty of Bayton which ended the Intrusian War on the same day. Rebel leader Amanda Chesworth was exiled to the U.S. for 2 months. The Intrusian War rose patriotism for the citizens of Brogenia. During the Golden Age, President Nim Chesworth created the official Brogenian National Anthem, the Brogenian Defense Force, the Legislature, the Brogenian official website, and opened diplomatic relations with other micronations and organizations. Then, on April 12, 2012, the Major Reform Act was unanimously passed, and the nation went through another period of reform which changed the form of government from a Unitary Parliamentary Democracy to a Unitary Constitutional Democracy, and the bicameral legislature (the House of Parliament consisting of two chambers) was changed to a unicameral legislature (the National Assembly).
Government and politics
The Independent Republic of Brogenia is a Unitary Constitutional Democracy, which means that the country's government is run by the citizens. Brogenia is split into two branches, the Executive branch, the Legislative branch, and the Judicial branch. The citizens elect other citizens, called Delegates, to represent them in the National Assembly. The Legislature is the National Assembly, the Executive is the President, and the Judiciary is the Supreme Court.
The Executive branch consists of the President, the Vice-President, and the Cabinet, which consist of all the Ministers. The Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Welfare Services, and the Ministry of War and Defense. The President can approve passed legislation, or can veto passed legislation. Also, the President may announce the State Emergencies, State Pardons, and Executive Orders. The Vice-President is the head advisor for the President and presides over the National Assembly (and has only 1 vote in the case of a tie). The official home of the President is the Executive Residence. The Vice-President and Ministers reside in the Ministerial Residence. The President serves a term of 2 years, and a maximum of 2 terms, and Ministers may serve 2 years (the same as the President) but can be Minister for life if succeeding Presidents nominate that person as Minister during their terms. In the case that the President passes away, is impeached, or cannot perform their duty, the Vice-President becomes President. If the Vice-President is unable to do their duty, then the next in line is the Minister of the Interior, then the Minister of Finance, then the Minister of Welfare Services, and then the Minister of War and Defense.
The Legislative branch is a unicameral legislature called the National Assembly, and contains 6 seats (2 from every province), and is responsible for approving the appointment of Ministers, Supreme Justices, Directors of the Bank of Brogenia, and Ambassadors. The National Assembly also has the power to declare war, approve trade agreements and treaties, and can decide whether or not to approve diplomatic relations with foreign nations or join organizations. Delegates (representatives in the National Assembly) are elected by the people living in the province they represent. During the National Assembly Elections, the top two candidates with the most votes by the IRV system become the Delegates. The President and any Delegate can propose a bill to the National Assembly, but the President does not have a vote. For legislation to pass, at least 2/3 (4 votes) of the National Assembly must approve. If the vote is less than 2/3 (3 votes or less), then the legislation is not passed. All passed legislation must go to the President for approval. If the President approves the legislation, then the legislation becomes law. If the President vetoes the legislation, then it is not approved, or the National Assembly can override the veto with a 5/6 vote. Delegates serve a term of 1 year and can be reelected any amount of times.
All government officials besides Delegates are subject to impeachment. The National Assembly must vote 2/3 to hold an impeachment case and must vote 5/6 to impeach the President. During an impeachment trial, the Supreme Justice acts as the Judge, the National Assembly as the Plaintiff and the Jury, the Attorney General as the lawyer for the accused government official. The Brogenian Government may also sue a corporation if they think that the corporation is breaking the law. In the case of a government trial, the Supreme Justice acts as the Judge, the National Assembly as the Plaintiff, and random voluntary citizens form the Jury, and the Government Prosecutor, who represents Brogenia. Although Delegates may not be impeached, the Vice-President (who presides over National Assembly sessions) may kick a Delegate for misconduct and inappropriate behaviour for 1 session. If the misconduct and inappropriate behaviour continues, then the National Assembly may vote 2/3 to suspend the Delegate up to 2 weeks maximum (the Vice-President carries out the sentence, and may vote in the case of a tie). The accused Delegate may also have a vote. The President also has the authority to dismiss Delegates and Justices with a 2/3 vote from the National Assembly. The President may dismiss members of his Cabinet and military officers without the permission of the National Assembly.
There are two types of elections in Brogenia. Presidential Election (which occur every 2 years), and National Assembly Elections (which occur every year). Before the Presidential Election (which is on the second Tuesday after the first Monday in October) there is the Primary Elections, which decide who is the candidate from participating parties in the Presidential Election. The Primary Elections only occur if there is at least one party with more than one candidate running. During the Primary Elections, the candidates are running against other candidates from the same party, and the winning candidate becomes that party's Presidential candidate. Through the IRV system, the candidate with the most votes becomes the candidate and is officially announced at that party's National Convention, which is held during the summer before the beginning of the Presidential Election campaign, and after the end of the Primary Elections. After the National Conventions, party candidates may begin their campaign, and on Presidential Election day, citizens vote through the IRV system and the winning candidate becomes the President of Brogenia for the next 2 years. The National Assembly Elections are held the same day as the Presidential Election but are held every year rather than every 2 years. During the National Assembly Elections, in each province, any amount of candidates may run, but through the IRV system, the top 2 candidates with the most votes become the Delegates of that province for the next year.
Political Parties
There is 1 political party in Brogenia, the National Green Party (NGP). The NGP has 3 seats in the National Assembly. The current President, President Nim Chesworth, is a National Greenist.
Ministries
Brogenia had many ministries, but due to the Second Government Reform Act, the number of ministries was reduced to four ministries. Currently, there are four ministries, and these are the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Welfare Services, and the Ministry of War and Defense. These are the descriptions of each of the ministries: 1. Ministry of the Interior The MotI is responsible for the infrastructure, parks, law enforcement, and the protection of Brogenia's national, natural, and cultural heritage.
2. Ministry of Finance The MoF is responsible for the financial issues, trade, commerce, labor, and industry in Brogenia.
3. Ministry of Welfare Services The MoWS is responsible for the safety and use of hospitals, clinics, and other medical areas. They also are in charge of the museums and education in Brogenia. Anything related to welfare services is under the administration of the MoWS.
4. Ministry of War and Defense The MoWaD is responsible for the defense and security of Brogenia. They administrate the BAF (Brogenian Armed Forces), homeland security, the BNPF (Brogenian National Police Force) and other means of safety.
Law and order
The Judicial Branch is made up of a court system with the Brogenian Supreme Court at the head. There are a total of 3 district courts (1 in each province), and the Supreme Court located in the capital, Bayton. The Supreme Court consists of 2 Justices and 1 Supreme Justice who are nominated by the President and must be approved by the National Assembly with a 2/3 vote. Supreme Justices serve a lifelong term. The duty of the Supreme Court is to hear appeal cases and to put a final ruling on them seeing whether they are constitutional or unconstitutional. This also goes for legislation passed by the Legislative Branch, and duties and actions performed by the Executive Branch.
Foreign Relations
Ever since the foundation of Brogenia, Brogenia has been active throughout the intermicronational community. On September 21, 2011, Brogenia opened diplomatic relations with the Montosh Empire, on October 23, 2011, with the Federated Republics of A1, on January 22, 2012, with the Kingdom of Alteria, and on February 9, 2012, with the Empire-Republic of Freedomia. Also, Brogenia has participated in micronational organizations such as the OAM (Organisation of Active Micronations) and the IMBCBCM (Inter-Micronational Blue Cross and Blue Crescent Movement). Brogenia also founded a micronational organization called ONAM (Organization of North American Micronations) which accept micronations that are located in North America but disbanded the organization after it fell into inactivity. Brogenia also left the OAM because of inactivity, and may leave the IBCBCM due to possible inactivity. Brogenia has a policy of maintaining it's sovereign status in organizations.
Military
The Brogenian Armed Forces (BAF) is the main military force in Brogenia, and is mainly used for defense. The BDF is made up of the Army, and Navy. The Army consists of water guns, staffs, nerf guns, other weapons, bikes, and scooters. The Navy consists of Aircraft Carriers, Cruisers, and Battleships made of aluminum foil in order to be waterproof.
The first and most famous war that Brogenia has faced so far is the Intrusian War (September 24, 2011 - September 26, 2011). The Intrusian War was a series of attacks aimed at Brogenia by rebels. On September 24, 2011, the rebel leader Amanda Chesworth began taking over Brogenian land and renamed it the Republic of Youngeria. Brogenia then declared war on the rebels, and slowly began to retake land back from the rebels, but were never fully conquered. Finally, on September 26, 2011, at the Battle of the Gateway, the Brogenian military was able to surround the rebels, and they were forced to surrender. Later that day, Amanda Chesworth, signed the Bayton Treaty, which stated that the rebels would give up all the land that they were still in control of, and the rebel leader was exiled to the U.S. The Intrusian War was the first war that Brogenia had won since it's creation in February 2, 2010.

Geography and climate
Brogenia is made up of 3 provinces named Lamburn, Sheelton, and Brayson which is the Fairfax County area. Brogenia also claims the Marie Byrd Land in Antarctica, resulting in a total area of 1,610,035 km². The climate in Brogenia is moderate with four distinct seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. Rainy in the spring, hot in the summer, chilly in the Autumn, cold and snow in the Winter. Squirrels, Deer, Foxes, many species of Bird, and other woodland animals inhabit Brogenia.
Economy
Brogenia's main industry is services but also includes paper windmill Manufacturing. Brogenia's economy is currently in a state of growth, and issues relating to the economy are important in Brogenia.
Culture
The official language of Brogenia is English, and the native language is Brogenian. There is no national religion, because Brogenia allows freedom of religion. The National Anthem is 'Brogenian March'. The National Animal is the Cardinal, a red bird that is seen around Brogenia. The National Sport is Chess, and every year on Brogenia Day, the National Chess Championship Match takes place, in which the previous National Chess Champion plays against the person with the highest score, and the winner becomes the National Chess Champion. Founded in 2011, Brogenia Today is an online newspaper in Brogenia. Brogenia Today covers topics from weather and politics to national and intermicronational news. The Brogenian Broadcasting Corporation (BBS) was founded in late 2011 and is the first and main broadcasting corporation in Brogenia. BBS broadcasts through a youtube channel and covers news to entertainment. Brogenia Today and BBS are both registered on the Brogenian National Broadcasting Commission (BNBC).
