History

The House of Assembly was established on 23 April 2022, after the establishment of Parliament.

Role

The primary function of the government is to govern the country on behalf of the monarch and the people of the nation. They have the duty to propose and pass laws. The Opposition's role is to scrutinise the government's decisions. The House of Assembly provides for a space to do this as well as to vote on proposed bills.

Relationship with the Government

Although the House doesn't formally elect the Prime Minister, they do nominate a candidate for the office and the PM is answerable to the House.

Membership and Elections

To be eligible for election to the House it's required that Ocrainian Citizenship is held. Party membership isn't required but is advised. When members are elected to the house and are in government are then addressed by the courtesy title "The Right Honourable Member for [Constituency]" in Parliament, those in opposition are given the courtesy title "The Honourable Member for [Constituency]".
