The Great Gansholm Expedition (Nortennish English: Great Gansholm Fareld) was an expedition led and carried out by Adalhard I of Bärenland on 1 July 2022. The purpose of the expedition was to explore nearby islands in the Willem Stour for potential Bären annexation. The expedition resulted in the annexation of the island of Gansholm.

Timeline

In the morning of 1 July, Adalhard decided to accompany some family members to go kayaking in the Willem Stour. After making the trip to Wilburybaii in western Forellenlandung, Adalhard and his family assembled two folding kayaks. They launched them from the beach at 12:40 PM PST. They decided to maneuver their boats out to a medium-sized island in the middle of the river, and began to make the approximately 17-minute and half-kilometer journey there. Adalhard arrived at the island first, landing at what he would later name Harrison Beach. He beached his kayak and began to explore the island while waiting for the other vessel to arrive. In his waiting, he discovered that the island was inhabited by a multitude of geese, whose excrement gave the whole beach a pungent smell. He also discovered a stack of rocks further inland, an indication of a prior human presence. Not much of the island could be traversed due to the large amount of mud covering its surface. Upon the arrival of his relatives, Adalhard took several pictures of the newly-explored land, claimed it in Bärenland's name, and then disembarked from Harrison Beach. Plans to visit neighboring islands were abandoned due to safety concerns.
