The Free States of the Liber Empire, also referred to as the Liber Empire or the Liber Free States is an empire that was established on the 1st of May 2022. It was founded on the basis of the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights. Two human rights in particular have been cited as the founding pillars of the empire. These are the rights to freedom from torture,and freedom to participate in creative activity. The freedom from torture is freedom from the torture of being ruled by the Conservative Party and their leader Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson (aka. Boris Johnson, or the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom). This empire aspires to join the ranks of larger and more successful micronations in opposing badly run macronations.
The Liber States was inspired by the work of the macronation founder, Emperor George II of Atlantium and the nation of Sealand. The states are ruled by the Emperor Bazza the First who exercises absolute control over the States. However, the Emperor decreed in his constitution that all people in the Liber States must always retain the right to do what ever they wish on their land, given that it shall never cause physical, emotional or psychological harm to any other person.
The Free States pledge to remain peaceful in all conflicts involving macro- and/or micronations. However, exceptions can be made by the Emperor in extreme cases. The Empire has little involvement in the current affairs of any macro or micronation but hopes to peacefully expand its territories to any lands that are willing to join.
Etymology
The etymology of the Free States of the Liber Empire derives its name from the Boer Orange Free States in 1900s South Africa and the latin word "liber" literally meaning "free".
History
Since its foundation on May 1st 2022, the Liber Empire has not participated in any conflicts except its brief opposition to the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The Emperor has ruled the empire ever since its creation and has never experienced any threats to his power.
Politics and government
The empire is run by the Emperor, who exercises absolute power over all final decisions made by his council in the Free States. He chooses the councillors who sit on the Council of Liber, he also selects the military leaders for his armies and chooses Liberites to represent the empire to other nations. When the Emperor steps down he will hand over power to a successor (chosen by the Council and the Emperor) in the Ceremony of Imperial Transfer. The Emperor will choose the members of his council to have power over a ministry or multiple ministries. Anyone who has Liberite citizenship may be chosen by the Emperor for political duties. There are currently 14 seats at the council. These seats are as follows; Emperor, Chair of the Council, Minister of the Economy, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Home Affairs, Minister of Culture, Head of the Army, Head of the Navy, Head of the Air Service, Minister of Imperial Affairs, Minister of Industry, Minister of Imperial Opportunity and Expansion, Minister of Defence and Minister of the Environment.
Law and order
In the Emperor's government is a Minister for Law and Order who must aim to completely eliminate crime. The council and Emperor decide the laws of the lands of the empire and choose judges to oversee trial proceedings. In extreme cases, the Emperor can act as the judge in a case. The Emperor himself can only be prosecuted if the Minister for Law and Order is the judge of the trial.
Foreign relations
The Liber Empire is currently neutral in politics, not taking part in any treaties or alliances. It has never declared war or allied with a nation at war. However, the Liber Empire strongly condones all war and may take diplomatic measures against aggressive nations.
Military
Given the peaceful nature of the Liber Empire, the military is small and generally unused. The Grand Army comprises the Expeditionary Unit and the Cycling Battalion. The Army possesses 4 Nerf guns, 2 shields and 3 wooden swords and 8 bikes (including 3 that can fold). Its water-based counterpart is the Imperial Navy; this small force comprises two trained sailors, (including the Emperor himself) but no boats. Finally the Imperial Air Service provides detailed military and peacetime knowledge of aircraft to the Minister of Warfare. The Air Service does not currently possess any aircraft.
Geography and climate
The lands of the Empire are all currently located in the British Isles. Due to this the typical climate of the Empires lands is; wet, cloudy and cold. Most of the territories are either in buildings or green spaces within an urban area.
Economy
The Minister of the Economy runs the Liber economy and he is currently working on a new currency which the Liberites have yet to implement. The Free States currently specialise in weapon manufacture as the main industry. The Minister of the Economy also runs the Liber Central Bank which distributes money and sets interest rates. Currently the Liber Free States has weathered the energy crisis with few issues.
Culture and media
Whilst there is not much in the way of media for the Liber Empire, they are a passionate sporting nation and have an Imperial Badminton team which includes the emperor. There are rumours that a state-run media outlet may be set up in the future.
