Etymology

The name "Latiland" was a truncation from the name "Latios" or "Latias", the supreme leader's personal favourite Legendary Pokémons from the Pokémon franchise, These creatures also serve as the national symbol since the early era of the foundation. Along with the suffix "-land", the name could also mean "Land of the Lati's"

Although foreign publications and diplomatic documents commonly refer to the country as Latiland, it's important to note that this is an exonym. The intentional and official name of the country is "Lati." Nevertheless, the government has chosen to uphold the use of the name "Latiland" in official English contexts, citing reasons of "international familiarity."

History

The Leader of Maw Nation
State of Maw (2012-2016)

The state of Maw was founded on the 16th of April, 2012, by the then 5-years-old, Theos Nirinke. At the early years of its foundation, Laté, the first and the oldest cat among Theos' pets, was proclaimed the first supreme leader of the state, to govern the cat population in the state area, as one of the state's measures in the prevention of the stray cat problem.

Currently, the position currently exists as one of the honorable statuses in Lati, with the title "Supreme Leader of Maw" (Thai: "ท่านผู้นำแห่งชาติแหมว"; lit. "The Leader of Maw Nation"). With Cos, the royal pets currently hold the position as the fifth generation.

State of Yugovia (2016-2017)

In 2016, the Supreme Leader Laté passed away of old age, leaving the position vacant. This led to Maw losing its stability, which resulted in its dissolution. Theos Nirinke, who was the acting leader at the time, along with five board members, took over the sovereignty of Maw. They then founded the State of Yugovia with Theos as the first president. This event technically abolished the de-facto "Semi-Absolute Monarchy" system, which had been in use in the country since its formation.

People's Democratic Republic of Yugovia (2017)

Within a year after the establishment of Yugovia, Kamonphob Yosnight (Thai: กมลภพ ยศไนท์) led a communist revolt that sparked the revolution of Yugovia and led to the proclamation of a Communist state.

During Kamonphob's leadership, the Fascist movement started its clandestine activities and initiated action against the government. But after the government discovered the movement's activities, the battle between both forces broke out on August 13th, 2017. The result ended with the victory of the Government forces, the Fascist movement was isolated and formally withdrawn.

On December 21st, Kamonphob announced his resignation as the leader of Yugovia Communist Party, which is also the de-facto Head of state, without a successor, leaving the position vacant. Therefore, on December 24th, the Supreme Council of Yugovia announced the abolition of the communist regime in the country and proclaimed the former president, Theos Nirinke, to become the new leader.

Second State of Yugovia (2017-2021)

Following the fall of the communist regime, the newly established government of Yugovia made the decision to seek Sweden's protection and appointed King Carl XVI Gustaf as the nation's de jure monarch, with Theos as the Prime Minister.

During the era, a Buddhist reform occurred in response to the religious extermination policy enforced by the communist government in 2017. At the same time, there has been a significant improvement in the nation's economy which formerly is in a state of disrepair.

By 2018, widespread discontent among the populace arose due to a collective reluctance to remain under the governance of the Swedish Monarch. This dissatisfaction prompted a constitutional revision, resulting in the withdrawal of the Swedish protectorate status and the proclamation of Crown Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn as the de-jure new head of state. This transition marked Yugovia's shift to becoming a protectorate of Thailand for the first time in five years, a status that has persisted since then.

Federative Kingdom of Latiland (2021- Present)

On April 16th, 2021, commemorating the ninth anniversary of its independence, Theos Nirinke ascended to the throne, assuming the regal title of King Theos. This ascension was duly sanctioned by the parliament and received popular approval. Concurrently, the nomenclature of the nation underwent a modification to Latiland. Furthermore, the governance structure transitioned to a federative state model, operating under a constitutional monarchy framework. It is noteworthy that the adoption of the federative system has been in effect since 2016.

Geography

Latiland is a region characterized by political demarcation into two distinct zones, namely the western and eastern regions, both situated within the territorial confines of Uthai Thani province in Thailand. The western region, situated in Ban Rai, is predominantly characterized by a foothill plain topography, encompassing an extensive forest cover exceeding 80% of its land area. Conversely, the eastern region, situated in Nong Chang, is typified by a lowland terrain, marked by urban developments comprising various structures, and notably devoid of any forested areas.

Climate

As same as most parts of Thailand, Latiland experiences three seasons: Summer (March to June), marked by high temperatures and dry conditions; Rainy Season (June to October), characterized by increased humidity and frequent rainfall; and Winter (October to March), featuring milder temperatures and reduced precipitation. These seasonal variations are influenced by tropical climate patterns, with atmospheric pressure playing a role. Summer is associated with high pressure, while the rainy season involves the southwest monsoon and potential depressions. Winter sees the influence of the northeast monsoon.

Due to its geographical location in the foothill plain area, the western region of Latiland experiences distinct temperature characteristics, particularly during the Winter season. The topography of this region contributes to lower temperatures compared to the national average. Notably, the coldest temperature recorded in Latiland occurred in Kaimuk in 2013, reaching 12°C.

While no specific record exists for the hottest temperature in Latiland, it is anticipated to be relatively moderate, not exceeding 30°C. This temperature range aligns with the general climatic conditions expected in regions with foothill plain topography.
