Aravosatha (US: /ˌɑ.ɹʌ.voʊˈsɑ.θʌ/), officially the Federation of Aravosatha, is a self-proclaimed sovereign state, also known as a micronation, located in North America. It is surrounded on all sides by the United States of America. Aravosatha is made up of one administrative region, Central Aravosatha, where the entire population currently resides. The capital city, Xenia, is also within this region.
Aravosatha is led by an executive council that acts as the nation's collective Head of Government, as opposed to a single person like a prime minister. The council, called the Syskenaya, nominates one of the councilors for the position of Chairman or Chairwoman, which is the more ceremonial Head of State title. The Chair is described as a "primus inter pares", or "first among equals" in Latin; the Chair receives no additional powers to that of the other councilors.
Etymology
The name, Aravosatha, is a combination of two words. The first half of the name comes from the Greek word αραβόσιτος (aravósitos; ‘corn’), referring to the corn grown in fields near Aravosatha. The second half of the name is likely of Sanskrit origin, but the meaning of "-atha" is unknown.
History
Founding citizens Cameron McClellen and Kyrillos af Salema began writing the Aravosathan Declaration of Independence on 13 March 2024. Both of them acknowledged the problems they had with American politics, civil rights, and bipartisanism. These issues were included within their declaration. It was approved and signed on March 14. The declaration is only one-and-a-half pages long.
Quickly, these two were under pressure from themselves to write a good constitution for this fledgling nation. Cameron McClellen, who was already decided to be the leader, led much of the writing of the constitution. During this time, Kyrillos af Salema designed the nation's flag and McClellen derived the National Emblem from it. McClellen spent many days writing the constitution, creating, editing, and revising the articles she was creating. She and af Salema would finalize the document and sign it on 22 March, establishing the Constitution of Aravosatha as the nation's governing document.
Government
Aravosatha is described as a "Federal Constitutional Directorial Republic" according to its Constitution, which is strongly adhered to by the government. The nation has a federalist system where power is divided between the federal government and the various regional governments.
Legislative branch (The National Assembly)
The legislative branch of the federal government consists of a single body, called the National Assembly, made up of Governors and Representatives from the nation's regions. It is responsible for making laws, appointing judges to the Federal Court, and electing the councilors of the Syskenaya. The National Assembly holds nation-wide referendums during the creation of laws to gather a popular vote towards the law. Because both the people and their representatives vote on national legislature together, and the National Assembly often debates the bills it is passing, the legislature is a hybrid of Direct democracy and Representative democracy called "Deliberative" democracy.
Executive branch (The Syskenaya)
The executive branch of the federal government, a council known as the Syskenaya, is essentially the nation's head of government. The National Assembly elects the members of the Syskenaya, referred to as Councilors. The Councilors decide amongst themselves which Councilor to elect to the position of Chairman or Chairwoman, or simply, the Chair. The Chair holds no extra powers compared to the other councilors and the title is mostly ceremonial and viewed as the Head of State.
The Syskenaya signs off on all proposed bills, legislature, or amendments, but the National Assembly may veto the Syskenaya's decision if they oppose the bill but the National Assembly and the people strongly support it. Along with this ability, the Syskenaya may create an Executive Order, which is taken from the United States. The Syskenaya is responsible for all foreign relations.
Judicial branch (The Federal Court)
The judicial branch of the federal government is called the Federal Court. The National Assembly appoints judges to the Federal Court. It handles all criminal cases within the nation while also making sure all legislature, amendments, and executive orders do not violate the constitution.

Administrative regions
The primary administrative divisions of Aravosatha are called Regions and Territories.

The regional governments primarily consist of a Governor who acts "in the interest of their region's advancement" and a Representative of the region's people. Both of these positions are elected by the people from their region.
Aravosatha has one region, Central Aravosatha.
Flag | Name | Established | Admitted as Region | Area (in km2) | Population | Governor | Representative |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
Regions | |||||||
Central Aravosatha | 14 March 2024 | N/A | ~0.000149 | 2 (2024) | vacant | vacant |
Territories
The other of Aravosatha's administrative divisions are the Territories. Territorial governments hold less powers than Regions and are directly managed by the government aside from an elected Representative who still participates in the National Assembly. Territories can become regions if they meet certain criteria.
