Eseptia, officially the Kingdom of Eseptia (Russian: Королевство Эсептия) is a sovereign self-declared state, located in South Central Siberia, usually described as a micronation. It was initially founded by it's current leader Agniya Kaneva as Tsardom of Kanev (Russian: Царство Каневское) in August 2022. The capital town of Eseptia is Ansk.

Eseptia is an absolute monarchy ruled by the House of Kanev. The monarch is the highest authority of all government branches and has the right to make decisions regarding each one of them or instead of them. Monarch is also the commander in chief of the Royal Army.

Etymology

Eseptia got it's name during Ognevian rule, when Esperanto was one of the official languages. The name of Eseptia calques Esperanto adjective "escepta" (English: exceptional).

History

Tsardom of Kanev

Formation of the Eseptian statehood dates back to the middle of 2022. Agniya Kaneva comically declared her small apartment a sovereign state called Tsardom of Kanev. Despite the humorous nature of such separation, Kaneva still tried to handle the economic development of her state, focusing on the further separation from Russia

From September 2022 to December 2022, the nation was stagnating due to Kaneva's personal problems and her educational activities. Later, the stagnation will lead to the Ognevian Revolution in 2023.

People's Republic of Ognev

In February 2023, Eseptia suffered the Ognevian Revolution. During the revolution, Kaneva abdicated the throne and became the president of newly established socialist republic. On 1 March the Ognevian Declaration of Independence was signed. It happened to be the first well-documented event in the history of Eseptia. [1]

Ognevian People's Republic didn't last long as it's politics wasn't much different from the politics of previous government. Despite that, Ognev managed to start some government funded research programs, attract more people to work on the country's development and left a strong foundation for new government's industry development.

Kingdom of Eseptia

The long development of democracy in Ognev, caused by small amount of people in country made Kaneva think about the suitability of such regime. She came to conclusion, that her benevolent dictatorship would be the best system to make Eseptia prosper until it becomes a democracy.[2] After gaining public and parliament support, on 7 April 2023, Kaneva started the April Coup, during which she issued first royal decree. [3] That decree granted her the title of the Queen of Eseptia.

After the coup, Russia passed a lot of laws, that limited freedom of speech, LGBTQ+ rights and empowered police forces. New Eseptian government couldn't stay out of this. Agniya didn't consider Eseptia a micronation since the fall of Ognevian Rule and started to position Eseptia as a new beacon of freedom in Asia. Eseptia has become striving for complete political, military and economic independence from Russia. Because of such ideology, the government quickly began to develop it's judicial and administration systems and attempted to kickstart the Eseptian economy by investing in consumer electronics, IT and food industry. The Kingdom of Eseptia was the first state in it's history that started the development of it's own firearms.

Government and politics

Government

Since April 2023, Eseptia is an unitary absolute monarchy, wherein the queen is the head of state. There is no parliament in Eseptia. The queen performs functions such as crime investigantion, resolving of judiciary conflicts and passing the laws. She also serves as the Eseptian diplomatic representative on the world stage and runs the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Ministries

Currently, Eseptian government unofficially consists of four ministries:

  • Ministry of Science
  • Ministry of Defence
  • Ministry of Internal Affairs
  • Ministry of Foreign Affairs

Foreign relations

Kingdom of Eseptia is an unrecognized state and is unable to establish diplomatic relationships with UN member states. Eseptia doesn't consider itself a micronation. Because of that, Eseptia does not aim to join any intermicronational organizations that does not respect Eseptia's rights as a sovereign state. Despite that, the state is trying to establish international relationships with separate micronations and achieve mutual recognition.

Mutual recognition

Culture

The culture of Eseptia is much influenced by Russian culture, since Eseptian citizens were born in Russia. However it is still separate, because it is mostly based on various science fields and сompletely different core values than Russian ones. Eseptians use their own dialect of Russian language to communicate; because of some major differences, it is considered Eseptian language by some. The art in Eseptia is not developed; Eseptian government considers this a result of focusing on natural and formal sciences rather than arts and social ones.

Since September 2023, government tries to attract more creative people to move in Eseptia by providing them funding and comfortable work conditions, but their attempts were not shown successful yet.

National symbols

Flag

Eseptian flag was changing throughout the Eseptian history, but didn't have an officially established version. In December 2023, Eseptia adopted the National Symbols Act 2024 that defined the final flag version. Flag is considered to be one of the most used symbols, since it appears on every product, that is manufactured or developed within Eseptia.

The current national flag of Eseptia was adopted by Agniya I in December 2023, as a replacement for the old one, that Agniya described as "hard to interpret and base on, when coming up with new national symbols". It consists of quartered red and blue cantons and has two perpendicular white stripes in the middle. The same pattern can be found on the coat of arms of the Kingdom.

Coat of Arms

The current coat of arms of Eseptia was designed just a few days after Agniya I came up with an idea of current flag. It consists of quartered red and blue cantons and has two perpendicular white stripes in the middle, just like the flag of Eseptia, but it also has a white star in the middle of the top left canton. Coat of Arms of Eseptia is being present on almost every official document and is a part of royal standard of House of Kanev.
