The Ensign (Ens) is the lowest-ranking commissioned officer in the Royal Blazdonian Navy. This rank is designated for newly commissioned officers who have completed their officer training and are beginning their careers in the Navy.

Responsibilities

As an Ensign, officers are expected to demonstrate leadership potential and learn the foundational skills necessary for their roles in the Royal Blazdonian Navy. They may be assigned to various divisions or departments within a ship or naval unit, where they will receive practical training and gain hands-on experience.

Ensigns are responsible for carrying out orders and directives from higher-ranking officers. They may be assigned specific duties related to their area of expertise or may rotate through different assignments to gain a broad understanding of naval operations.

Rank Insignia and Uniform

The rank insignia of an Ensign consists of a single gold or silver star worn on the shoulder boards or sleeves of the uniform. The specific design and placement may vary depending on the uniform type and style.

Promotion and Advancement

Promotion from Ensign to the next rank, Lieutenant Junior Grade, is based on a combination of factors, including time in service, demonstrated competence, and successful completion of required training and qualifications. Advancement in rank is typically earned through a combination of experience, performance evaluations, and professional development.
