Empire of Willistan

The Empire of Willistan is an Empire created by Terredepaix and its colonies and new territories. Terredepaix is the head state of the Empire, and the territories, known as “The Emperors possessions,” are under Terredepaix with limited autonomy.

Etymology

The name “Willistan” derives from first emperor, emperor William Brown’s first name, and “Stan,” which means “land of.” Therefore, “Willistan” means “land of William,” or “land of Will.”

History

The Empire of Willistan was created on September 29, 2022 by first and current emperor, emperor William Brown, after he decided to expand his micronation, Terredepaix,’s borders. After this was done, He split the new territories into sections and made Terredepaix the leading figure of an empire of territories across the Midwest and Great Lakes region of the United States. The inspiration to do this mostly came from William’s best Freind, Xander Mintz,’s own commonwealth, which he made with his micronation, the Kingdom of Paxaris. After William created the empire, Xander got inspired to do so too, and soon followed suit, changing the commonwealth of Paxaris into the empire of Paxaris.

The Downsize

On October 2, 2022, Emperor William decided to significantly downsize the empire and its land claims, and relinquished most of the empires land claims. After the downsize, all that was left was Terredepaix, Drummond island, and the Beaver island Archipelago, which was a new territory claimed by the empire.

Government and Politics

The Empire of Willistan is modeled heavily off of the British empire, aka Great Britain, but refuses to treaty its peoples, citizens, and territories, like the British did. Emperor William has stated that: “Even though these states may be territories under the empire, they will still be treated fairly, equality, and justly, unlike what Britain did with their empire. We seek to be an empire of integration, but integration for good, and any state integrated into the empire will be treated fairly and justly.” The empire is run as a complex intertwining of different political entities, the main one being the Second Kingdom of Terredepaix, also known as the Third Autonomous Second Kingdom of Terredepaix. Terredepaix itself is currently in a union, known as the Unified Lakeshore Kingdoms, which was not affected by Emperor William’s decision to create the Empire of Willistan.

Legislature

The Legislature of the Empire of Willistan is called the Imperial Council, and is the official lawmaking body of the Empire. Any laws passed in the Imperial Council will be law for all of the territories of the empire, including Terredepaix. Territories can veto laws by having a majority of their specific territories representatives requesting a veto. The Imperial Council requires a majority vote to pass or reject any law, which also goes for law vetos. The Emperor has the final decision and choice when it comes to laws.

Imperial House of Lawmakers

The Imperial House of Lawmakers (IHOL,) is the upper house of the Imperial Council, aka the legislature, and is the part of the legislature that makes and votes on the laws.

Imperial House of Representatives of the Willistan Empire

The Imperial House of Representatives of the Willistan Empire (IHOROTWE,) is the lower house of the Imperial Council, aka the legislature, and represents the territories of the empire. As emperor William states, “Britain taxed the Thirteen colonies without representation. That ended in bad things happening. As a result, we want to have our territories get as much representation as possible, to not only prevent us from repeating history, but to also prevent our territories from feeling like they aren’t getting representation, or at least enough representation.” Each territory of the Empire gets 5 representatives from that specific territory. These representatives are required to give news, happenings, important information, etc. About their territory that they are representing at the Imperial Council meetings that happen every month.

Emperor

The Emperor of Willistan holds the most power in Willistan, and is its top and most important figure. The emperor is chosen as the monarch of Terredepaix, and the imperial line of succession follows the Terredepaixan royal line of succession.

Past Controversy

The Empire of Willistan caused controversy in the Micronational Peace Alliance, MPA, for claiming large amounts of territory that can’t all be administered and governed and controlled by emperor William.
