The East Ezekiel People's Republic is a self proclaimed sovereign state that was established on 11 November 2019 as the Ezekiel Kingdom. It was formed in a Minecraft server and was proclaimed on a set of two islands, known as the Ezekiel Islands in the server, which were then split between East Ezekiel, and West Ezekiel. It was founded by Harold Duighan and his friend Brett I, who both also founded West Ezekiel.
Etymology
The name Ezekiel was chosen for the nation purely because it sounded cool.
History
Era of Separation
The division of the islands between East and West was not met with popular support. Both nations wanted separation, but the people wanted the islands to be unified, so they revolted on 15 November 2019. This began after the citizens built a bridge, known as the Bonding Bridge in order to unify them. This was met with resistance by the so-called "Separatists", who sieged the bridge, and attempted to crush the revolutionaries. Thus began the Battle of the Bridge.
War of Unification
This battle commenced the War of Unification. The bridge nearly fell, and it was planned to be burned, but the Separatists failed to stop the revolutionaries, who fought fervently to protect the bridge. Eventually, the Separatists retreated. The revolutionaries began making landings on the islands, and began blowing up boats that were made on the island, as well as just taking over territory. Eventually, both East and West Ezekiel fell, and the Separatists fled to neighboring Harold Island, which would be invaded shortly afterwards on the same day on 15 November. However, despite East Ezekiel being de facto dissolved, the government never ended their claim on the island, and still existed, albeit in exile. Eventually, on 16 November the revolutionaries united the islands and proclaimed the Ezekiel Island Kingdom.
Retaking the Island
On 20 April 2021, the Wamongian government met with the Eastern Ezekiel government and helped them retake the island on the same day, and propped up a Communist government. After this occurred, the East Ezekiel People's Republic was proclaimed. The nation then joined the People's Protection Pact shortly afterwards. They were also given physical land north of Wamong as well.
