Duke of Castro, Grandee of Castile (Spanish: Duque de Castro) is a title in the Peerage of Castile. It was created by King James I in 2022 for Felipe Ruiz de Castro e Ibaseta, second king of Castile as Felipe V .
The name of the title refers to the family name Ruiz de Castro, and it is the main title, alongside the two subsidiary titles, the Marquessate of Achas and the Feudal Lordship of Castro.
History
Upon the day of king James I's coronation as King of Castile, Felipe noticed he never got to publish the Royal Decree which authorized the use and creation of that title, so on 3 may 2021, King James I published, under Felipe's signature, the Royal Decree which would make him Duke of Castro, alongside the other subsidiary titles previously mentioned.
