Vehicle registration plates of Agatonia are mandatory plates attached to a motor vehicles in mainland Agatonia for identification purposes. The plates are issued by AVDLA (Agatonian Vehicle and Driver Licensing Agency) and all number plates are owned by AVDLA.

There are 24 letters in use in Agatonian number plates. The two exceptions are M and W due to being too wide when inserted in a number plate.

The font used in Agatonian plates is Rodin Wanpaku.

Current Series type

Number plates have different formats that are issued to different vehicles:

There were several more number plate formats in Agatonia (see Draft:License plate structure in the Commonwealth of Agatonia). The first format ever issued on number plates was XXX99X.[1] The first number plate ever issued on a vehicle in Agatonia was BAR49L, formerly issued on a Ford S-Max owned by Emperor Bartholomeus II. Emperor Bartholomeus II owns that Ford S-Max already since 2019.

Number plate types

Agricultural vehicles

N denotes digit and L denotes letter.

The initial character for agricultural plates is 農 (nō). 農 is the shortened form of the Japanese word for agriculture, 農業 (nōgyō). Agricultural vehicles use the format 農L NNNNN. 農A to 農Z are used for all agricultural vehicles, with no exceptions.

Agricultural vehicles are not allowed to enter expressways and highways. They can enter all other roads, but cannot enter cities. Agricultural vehicles can have a max speed of 65km/h.

Military vehicles

The initial word for military plates is the Japanese word for military, 軍隊 (guntai). The initial word 軍隊 always has a red color. Military vehicles use the format 軍隊 LNNNN.

Embassies and consulates

The initial character for diplomatic plates is the Japanese word for outside, (gai, which in this context translates to "foreign"), followed by three digits with a hyphen and again three numbers. The first three number indicate the foreign entity/organization the vehicle is registered to. The last three digits are random.
