The Republic of Cydonia, commonly referred to as Cydonia, is a real-life micronation situated within the boundaries of New York, United States of America. Encompassing a total area of approximately 4 acres, this small nation was established by its founder, Sean E. Petrie, with the primary objective of exploring the concept of self-governance.

Established in the early 21st century, Cydonia is currently presided over by its founding father, Sean Petrie. In the spirit of promoting democratic values, the nation is soon to witness its inaugural election, which will pave the way for future political developments. The governance structure of Cydonia primarily revolves around a presidential system, with its citizens exercising their right to vote and participate in the political process.

The Republic of Cydonia is predominantly Christian, with the majority of its inhabitants adhering to this faith. The cultural and religious practices of the nation are deeply intertwined, contributing to the unique identity of this fledgling micronation.

The capital building of Cydonia is situated within the territory referred to as "Shackland," which serves as the administrative and political center of the country. As the hub of governmental activities, Shackland plays a crucial role in the functioning and development of this micronation.

Having recently declared its independence, Cydonia is not yet affiliated with any international organizations or alliances. However, the nation aspires to forge strong diplomatic relations and gradually establish its presence on the global stage. Currently, the Republic of Cydonia owns approximately 4 acres of land in upstate New York. The nation is committed to ensuring the sustainable development and responsible management of its natural resources, which form the bedrock of its economy and the livelihood of its inhabitants.

Etymology

The name "Cydonia" was made up by the founder of the country Sean Petrie. Sean wanted a name that was futuristic and different. Cydonia is very new nation and it was made to "experience self governing". The motto "Walk Free As people" was used because it resembles the passion for freedom held by people across the planet.

History

Cydonia was created on 9 April 2023 on land in Oneida county, NY. The land was previously a part of the Moreland farm. It was inspired by other micronations like Sealand.

Politics and government

The president makes executive orders and bills and signs the legislation into law. The president is in the highest position in the government and represents the nation in diplomatic meetings. To help write the legislation, there also exists a council of 2 members. Elections are held once every single year. Cydonian Declaration of Independence . Independence was declared to "Experience self governance over territory ". The nation has absolutely nothing against the USA.

Law and order

All laws are to be overseen by the president. If a person breaks any rules a council member has the authority to issue the punishment that goes along with the broken rule. Once the constitution is ratified the laws will take effect in the country's land.

Military

The military of Cydonia is not very big as the united states protects its "claimed" land. The armament of the Cydonian Armed Forces currently includes a AR-15 , a Mossberg 22 gun, Remington 870 12 gage and a BB gun. There are about 3 members in the force.

Foreign relations

Cydonia strives to have good relations with NATO pro-freedom countries all around the world. It is strongly against slavery and dictatorship regimes and the nation's foreign policy supports peace through strength and is against communism. In the future, Cydonia seeks to build relationships with democratic nations that are run for the people and by the people. Cydonia recognizes all member countries of the United Nations. It also recognizes the republic of China(Taiwan),Principality of Sealand, Republic of Molossia, Penn federal republic and westarctica.

Cydonia consists of territories. Currently, there exist only 2 territories: Shackland, which has a population of 0 and is 3 acres in size, and 1302 plot, which has a population of 4 and is 1 acre in size. The capital is located in the territory of shackland

Geography and climate

It can get down to -5° Fahrenheit during winter. During Fall months it usually ranges between 40° and 65° Fahrenheit.Summers are always 70+° Fahrenheit at least. It is mostly forest area in Cydonia.

Economy and Culture

There currently are no industries that make USD. That will most likely change in the future. The current unemployment rate of the citizens is 0% in Cydonia. The people of Cydonia are very passionate about politics and want to better this world any way they can.

Holidays

The only holiday as of now in Cydonia is Independence day. This was the day that the declaration of Independence was signed.
