The People's Republic of Solmerania, known as Solmerania, is a unitary socialist micro state located in Central Europe. Solmerania declared its independence on 16th December 2023 and continued to grow. It's fully surrounded by the Republic of Poland, PRS also has access to the sea. Largest city and the capital is Wantaria. Solmerania has a total population of 2, covering an area of 3,45 square km. The official languages are Polish and English.

Etymology

Meaning

The name is believed to be created from two words - "Sol" and "Pomerania". Sol in Spanish means "Sun" and Pomerania is a region where the state is located.

History

Solmerania, a nation born from the vision of Phoenix Sol, later to become the President of the Republic, declared its independence on 16 December 2023. The conception of the state was rooted in Sol's aspiration to make lives of the people inhabiting its territories better. A week later, Leader of the republic announced state's first Constitution of PRS. After these events state fell into stagnation, nothing really moved forward. In May 2024, president announced the 3 Great Ideas Plan which was about Solmerania getting it's own documents, starting to gain popularity and population, creating the original currency. Later that month some ideas from the plan were already done. On May 30, Solmerania officially announced its existence.

Politics and government

Solmerania operates as a centralized, one-party socialist republic, with the Supreme Council serving as its legislative body. The Solmeranian Progressive Party stands as the sole legal political party in the country, shaping its policies and direction. This setup reflects a commitment to socialist ideals and centralized governance, aiming to ensure societal progress and equality for all citizens.

Head of state

President is the head of state. Due to the lack of elections, Phoenix Sol is and will remain the president until death. The president decides on all sectors of the state's activities and may, but is not obliged to, follow the advice of the Supreme Council.

Head of government

The head of the government is the Supreme Counselor from the Supreme Council. This person is the main representative of this body before the president and directs the actions of the SC. The Supreme Counselor can be removed by the president or resign from the position - otherwise, their term is indefinite.

Legislature

Solmerania's legislature, the Supreme Council, comprises 1 to 5 members, as per the constitution. When the President announces the need for new members, citizens can nominate themselves. Then, the leader of the Solmeranian Progressive Party selects members from the nominees. The Supreme Council serves an advisory role to the President.

Geography

Solmerania is located in a historical region called Pomerania. Most of it lies within the borders of Poland and Germany. The landscape of Pomerania is predominantly moraine, and despite the presence of numerous lakes, the country has no inland waters. However, the state has access to the Baltic Sea.

Climate

According to the Köppen classification, Solmerania lies in an oceanic climate zone (Cfb). Typically, July is the warmest month of the year, with an average temperature of 18.7°C. Conversely, January is the coldest month, with an average temperature of around -0.9°C. July is also the month with the highest precipitation, averaging 98 mm of rainfall. The least amount of rainfall occurs in February, the driest month, with only 46 mm of it. The difference in precipitation between the driest and wettest months is 52 mm. The highest humidity is measured in November, at about 87%, while the lowest humidity is in June, at around 70%.

Economy

The economy of Solmerania is complex. A lot of hotels and other "tourist friendly" businesses are working in the area claimed by the state, particularly thriving during the holiday season. However, state does not receive any revenue from taxes that entrepreneurs pay to the Polish government. Solmerania also does not yet have its own currency. Currently, the Polish Zloty is the only accepted currency. The government intends to develop this sector, and in addition to creating an original currency, there is a plan to start selling various items like clothes.

Culture

Solmerania's culture is similar to one from Poland. Country has its own painters. The most popular painting coming from the PRS is 20:00 made by president Phoenix Sol. Solmeranian food generally combines traditional Polish dishes with experimental flavors of local cuisine. Examples of dishes eaten here include chicken soup, pork chop with potatoes and Wantarian waffles (special kind of local waffles with secret ingredient). Solmerania does not have any artists creating music.
