Parland is an independent nation located inside of Louisville, Kentucky. The first time the idea of Parland was made was around 2020 when the now president Aiden Jones and his friends were imagining their own country which is now Parland. Parland was not officially created until November of 2023 when the founders of Parland signed the Declaration of Independence declaring that we are a sovereign state from the United States of America. Parland's capital city is New Maine located in Southern Louisville we also have cities located in other sections of Northern Kentucky. Parland claims one territory in Europe, the island of Jan Mayen. On June 30th 2024 Parland Officially has a new state, New Seattle. As of June 19th, 2024 Parland is looking to get into relations with other Micronations.

Etymology

The Name Parland was first thought of in 2020 when the now president Aiden Jones and the other founders wanted to make a name of a country for a game online. Since then Parland has grown into what it is today.

History

Present History

The first idea of Parland was made in 2020 but not until November 14, 2023, when the founders signed the Parland Declaration of Independence, during the signing there was an argument on who would be president of the country. The country was made and already falling apart, split into two factions. For the first two months of the country's life, we had a president who went by the name of Ry Guy. By Month three the president of Parland had not done thing for the country at the most important time of its life From this there was a revolt. The revolt resulted in the President we have now Aiden Jones. Parland's History has just started.

Early History

Today Parland is located near Louisville, Kentucky where the majority of its citizens originated. The city of Louisville was founded in 1780 the person credited for its founding is Col. George Rogers Clark. The name Louisville was coined to honor King Louis XVI of France for aiding America in the Revolutionary War. many of the early residents lived in forts to protect themselves from raids against the local indigenous people. Later during the Civil War Louisville was a major Stronghold for the Union but after the war Confederate Veterans took political control of the city.

Politics and government

Head of state

The powers and responsibilities of the president include being the commander of the Military, having the power to veto and sign bills, representing the country, and enforcing the laws that parliament passes. The President of Parland is elected every Four years on November 5th the first on happening in 2024. The President gets inaugurated on January 20th the next happening in 2025. When the President is sworn into office on Inauguration day He/She must recite the following oath.

"I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the Office of President of the Democratic Republic of Parland, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of Parland."

Legislature

Parland's Legislature is held up of 15 people each of them being the head of the main departments in the government. They have the power to create laws and go to war with foreign countries. Terms in the Legislature last two years with elections on November 7th the first election is happening in 2024. When getting elected into the Legislature the elected Legislator must recite the following oath.

"I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the Parland against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office on which I am about to enter: So help me God."

Military

The Military is composed of 3 people. The current standard issue rifle is the Spanish Jukar Kentucky Rifle. Parland has not been in any conflicts.

Foreign relations

Parland is open to getting in relations with other micronations. Parland is not currently in any relations with any other countries.

Geography and climate

Parland runs along the Ohio river on the Kentucky side. The land can be characterized by its steep rolling hills called the Knobs. If you were to go far east you would find the Appalachians. The region is scattered with large cities such as Louisville and Cincinnati which run along the Ohio river. That National Plant of Parland is the Great Blue Lobelia a indigenous plant to the region.
