Pikodia also lays claim to 5 acres of land on a rural farm near Menindee, Australia which is currently not being used for much and will simply remain as a territory of the Kingdom of Pikodia.

The Kingdom of Pikodia has not implemented taxes and it's income is relied upon donations and citizens contributions to it's development.

Foundation

On the 28th of February 2024, Koder Cetinić-Pensa and Nathan Van Der Walt proclaimed the Kingdom of Pikodia as an independent state within Australia. They lay claim to a piece of land in South Australia where Mr. Van Der Walt lives. The other lands include the residence of Mr. Cetinić-Pensa and 2 other citizens of Pikodia. A tunnel which includes a little river/creek and rock formation was also claimed as Pikodian land and still is used in meetings amongst members of government.

Elections

The Kingdom of Pikodia has national elections every 2 years to elect a new Prime Minister and therefore a new government. No elections have been held as of yet as the nation was only established this year (2024). Pikodia will hold it's first ever national election in December 2026 with The Only Good Party's leader Nathan Van Der Walt versing the leader of the Western Party of Pikodia, Aryan Ekanayake.

Geography

River in the Pikodian Territory of Tunneland

Land in Pikodia's land is almost entirely situated within two towns with an exception for the territory out bush near the town of Menindee. The towns that Pikodia is situated in are Broken Hill and Mount Barker. The Mount Barker land has a much more greenery than Broken Hill and receives a lot of rainfall as well as cold weather. Broken Hill lands are more prone to drier weather throughout the year but still commonly receives rainfall and still receives a lot of cold weather through out winter. The Tunnel Territory is the most fertile land in Pikodia which includes a river/creek that filled almost all the time unless the area suffers a drought. It also includes beautiful rock formations formed by the river where it used to flow down (hasn't flown down there for a while due to lack of hard rain fall) which has been named the Cetinić-Pensa Valley. In the same area of the Tunnel Territory, there is a flat rocky area which has been titled the Ekanayake Plains, nearby are steep rocky areas named the Mignano Mountains.

When the river is lower, there is visible small rock islets (around the size of a two feet together) which include Koder Islet and the Nathan Islet named after King Koder and Prime Minister Nathan Van Der Walt.

Climate

The Kingdom of Pikodia receives are fair bit of rainfall in it's South Australian lands as well as Broken Hill lands. In the Broken Hill lands it receives a good amount of water in winter. The South Australian lands are more fertile with receiving a lot of rainfall through out the whole year and experiences very cold winters compared to the Broken Hill lands. In summer the Broken Hill lands are more prone to warmer weather and drier conditions throughout summer compared to the more cool and fertile summers in the South Australian areas.

Government and Politics

Political parties

The Kingdom of Pikodia as of now only have two political parties which are the Western Party of Pikodia and The Only Good Party. The Only Good Party are the current leading government and majority in the Pikodian National Parliament.

Government

In Pikodia, the King has no constitutional limits and power, but the government and Prime Minister do. The government is lead by the Prime Minister and his Deputy Prime Minister. The government chooses it's ministers and what policies, bills and laws they wish to pass through the National Parliament. The members of government also deal with foreign affairs (a department of which is managed by the Prime Minister) and internal affairs such as defence management and general affairs that affect the everyday life of Pikodians nation wide.

Parliament

The National Parliament of Pikodia is the main legislating chamber of the Kingdom of Pikodia and has 15 seats 9 of which are currently allocated to the governing party (The Only Good Party) and the other 6 seats being allocated to the Western Pikodian Party. The speaker of the parliament is His Majesty the King, he is responsible for keeping the parliament calm and civil in heated debates between the government and the opposition. The oppositon can vote either yea or nay on a governments bill but it is unlikely for the opposition's opinion to affect the bills process of passing due to the government's majority in the chamber.

Within the parliament, government is able to attempt to pass bills which can eventually turn into laws, bills that the government attempt to pass usually succeed in passing through parliament. After a bill is passed it is up to the King to either sign the bill or veto it upon being delivered it.

Law and order

Pikodia does not have a police force due to low population and relies soly on the Army to enforce it's laws. Pikodia currently does not have a national court or judge, matters of the high court are for now managed by the King and his Prime Minister.

Economy

The Pikodian economy is mostly relied upon citizen donations and contributions to it's treasury. Donations and contributions are used to purchase defence equipment and things to benefit Pikodia in it's development into a complete Micronation. Citizens who have jobs are encouraged to donate small portions to the Pikodian Treasury to hopefully help us develop more. Thankfully, most citizens have jobs and use their own personal money to purchase equipment for their departments which therefore benefits Pikodia as a whole.

Possible ways of gaining more income will be discussed and decided in the future.

Holidays

The Kingdom of Pikodia recognises several holidays, including religious holidays like Christmas, and national holidays of which include the Pikodian Independence Day. On certain holidays the government takes a temporary break and parliament adjourns. These holidays include:

  • Christmas
  • Easter
  • Independence Day
  • King's Birthday

Vexillology and heraldry

The flag of Pikodia was designed by Prime Minister Van Der Walt.

Media

The media in Pikodia is relatively small, with King Koder I and Prime Minister Van Der Walt announcing news in the Pikodian discord server and announcing certain things on Twitter. We do have a twitter account and YouTube channel. We are planning on posting on YouYube soon but our Twitter is probably our most active social media platform. If you want to reach out to Pikodia contacting us via Twitter will be the best choice and make it easier for us to notice your message.

We do have 1 independent journalist within Pikodia who will start writing stories soon and the possibility of a Pikodian news paper is also rising.
