History

In the 1500s, the bobcats settled in what would become the Kingdom of Piedmont. The region was under French control from 1682 to 1762, followed by Spanish control from 1763 to 1800. The French briefly regained control from 1800 to 1803 before the area became part of the United States in 1821. In the early 21st century, significant political unrest began with the Missouri cat unrest on September 3, 2002. This was followed by the Kingdom of Piedmont declaring its independence on September 22, 2002, and the Socialist Republic of Graves Mountain declaring its independence on September 23, 2002. The Kingdom of Piedmont then overthrew the government of Graves Mountain and established a monarchy from August 3 to 5, 2005. However, Graves Mountain’s government was overthrown again on August 17, 2006, leading to a transition to a dictatorship on September 18, 2016.
