The ‘’’East Coast Federation’’’, or ‘’’ECF’’’, is a self-declared sovereign state, commonly referred to as a micronation, claiming territory scattered across the US State of North Carolina. The ECF is a federation comprised of one outpost, one state, and one federal district. The ECF was founded on April 25, 2024 by former micronationalist Aaron Gray, with Boone Outpost declared it’s provisional capital.

Despite its name, the East Coast Federation does not actually have any territory situated along the coastline. The ECF's geography ranges from cold and mountainous in Boone Outpost to flat, hot, and humid in the State of Aldonia. Both Boone Outpost and Aldonia are quite forested, although Aldonia's size allows for more vast and dense woodlands to grow.

Government

ECF Provisional Authority

The ECF Provisional Authority, or ECFPA, is the provisional government tasked with creating a constitution and ensuring stability in the ECF during its beginning stages. The ECFPA is currently led by Aaron Gray, who is also provisional President of the ECF. The ECFPA is currently headquartered out of Boone Outpost, where they are in charge of both the outpost and the nation. Despite their geographic separation, the ECFPA remains in continuous communication with the other federation members and currently holds complete authority over all federation members while a more permanent government is set up.

Department of Health and Infectious Diseases

The ECF Department of Health and Infectious Diseases was founded in Boone Outpost in early May 2024 to serve as the primary source of medical and health information in the country. The DHID is led by Surgeon General Hallie Hill, who possessed a wealth of knowledge from her work in the United States medical system, and has led the department to be quite successful in the ECF. In addition to having amassed large amounts of knowledge, the Department of Health and Infectious Diseases also maintains a stockpile of OTC medicines generally available to ECF citizens.

Federation Members

Flag Name Capital Notes Date of Establishment Governor
Boone Outpost NA Boone Outpost is the original founding member of the ECF. The outpost consists of a small area of land hidden in the Appalachian Mountains of western North Carolina. Boone Outpost is believed to be the smallest of the federation’s members, but remains the most active in ECF politics and civilization. As the provisional capital of the nation, the outpost is governed by the acting President. Boone Outpost is currently the only federation member sustaining a permanent population of ECF citizens, as the rest are populated by primarily Americans and Canadians. State of Aldonia New Yapton Aldonia is the second founding member of the ECF. Rather than an outpost or federal district, Aldonia is classified as a State, giving it the most independent authority in the federation. Aldonia is also the largest member of the ECF, comprising of a large swath of forest formerly owned by a previous local micronation during the late 2010s. Aldonia hosts 4 settlements, but only the State capital, New Yapton, maintains a permanent population. Aldonia’s borders are defined by a local creek and hosts several scattered historic structures. Federal District 1 unknown Federal District 1 is the third and final founding member of the ECF, and is home to the ECF Army Headquarters. Not much other information is known about Federal District 1. April 26, 2024 Under ECFPA authority

Foreign Relations

The current ECF administration maintains a policy of micronational isolationism, with the exception of the Principality of Sealand, which the ECF considers the "grandfather of micronationalism." The ECFPA has suggested it may be open to micronational relations after a more permanent government structure is in place.

The ECF had unilaterally recognized the following nations:

Military

Army

The ECF maintains a small standing army split between all 3 federation members. The ECF Army headquarters is located in Federal District 1, the location of which remains hidden. The ECF army is generally trained in Federal District 1, and then sent to the other federation members.

Naval Innovation Corps

Despite its name, the East Coast Federation doesn't have any territory bordering a coast. So while the ECF does not maintain a traditional navy with sailors or ships, the ECF has developed the ECF Naval Innovation Corps, which is tasked with creating advanced naval technology to counteract the ECF military's low manpower as a result of its small population. However, due to this same issue, the Naval Innovation Corps has had significant trouble recruiting, and as a result, no major naval projects have moved past the brainstorming page.

Advanced Systems Program

The Advanced Systems Program (ASP) is the ECF's program for technological innovation other than that related to naval combat. The scope of the ASP extends beyond simply military, and extends to the betterment of the entire country, although it is classified under the military to utilize the ECF's best engineers. One such program under the ASP is the ECF Sustainable Energy Initiative.

Economy

The economy of the East Coast Federation is fairly stagnant. The average income in the ECF is fairly low, and the government is currently running a budget deficit. The ECF currently has few present industries, however, the government has considered forming a military-industrial complex to kickstart the ECF economy. This has been criticized by some as a dangerous path, but others have been in support because "the military is cool."

The economy of the Boone Outpost is also supported by the circulation of rucks, a nontangible currency exchanged for goods and services throughout the outpost. The original introduction of rucks involved taxes, penalties, and incentives for citizens based on tasks completed, but out of fear of inflation, this was replaced with a much simpler system. The current "ruckonomy" has 30 rucks in circulation in total, with minimal ways to introduce or remove new rucks from the economy. Discrepancies are settled on a case-by-case basis by the Federal Bank, with rucks being added or removed as needed when the total supply exceeds or subceeds 30.

Trivia
