This nation is a member of the Union for Ulster Micronations (UUM) This nation is recognised by those outside of the UUM.

The Democratic Socialist Republic of Beechmount is a unitary parliamentary democratic socialist constitutional Republic. The nation dates back over a century when the partition occured between East and West Beechmount (known locally as Old Beechmount and New Beechmount) before reuniting over three decades ago. The nation is also commonly named the Beechmount Republic, Beechmount or Beechmount DSR.

Politics

The Beechmount DSR is a unitary parliamentary democratic socialist republic. The head of state is elected every four years or by the discretion of a referendum against them in the event of dissatisfaction of the President. The President is a full constitional role, protecting the very foundations and the constitution of the Republic and to keep the government in check and order, and declare a Parliament open or temporary cease it. The role is often seen as more of a 'referee' for the government and Parliament, and is leading the state and representing the country abroad and at home.

The Head of Government, also known as Prime Minister, is elected by the people and has a non-fixed term. The candidates for the elections of Prime Minister are decided by the four largest parties in Parliament to run a candidate each to run in the election contests. This allows the people to directly elect their Prime Minister unlike other nations like the Irish Republic or the United Kingdom, where they choose the party leader of the most populous party (the one with the majority of seats held by MPs whom are elected by the public) then they hold the role and invited by the head of state. The government believes that it is better for the people of Beechmount to vote and elect their prime minister directly, regardless of their party and if they have the most popular party.

Currently, the Prime Minister of the country is Tracey McCann, who is also the fourth female leader of the nation, and the third Prime Minister after the abolition of the joint Head of State / Head of Government 'Presidential' role in former PM Tina Campbell's 'big country shake-up'.

Tina Campbell was supported and praised for her constant work at rebuilding the economy, declaring temporary neutrality, resolving foreign tensions, rebuilding relations with other nations, finding new trade deals, speaking out against acts of war, building a new state, correcting democracy in the nation, and more. Her political party, a newly formed republican party taking over the days of the Beechmount Independence Party, the Republican Front Party, strongly believe in new Republic values, and building new states with full capitalist ideals.

The new Prime Minister Tracey McCann has been the first government leader since the re-independence from the dissolvement of the Federation. She is also the leader of the Beechmount Independence Party (BIP) currently, and leads the first BIP government since three governments ago as losing the previous three elections for leadership, and less support for seats in the parliament. She has given the BIP a brand new outlook and plan for the future, whilst rebuilding the nation after its collapse and re-independence declared. She is the the successor to former Beechmount leader from four governments ago, and former BIP leader Mr. Joseph Maguire.

The politics in Beechmount were heavily consistent over the years, from the unity of the Beechmounts, to the change of economy and ideology, however thanks to alliances, unions, colonialism, countless number of wars and the change of leadership and the changes of public votes and political opinion have impacted this and resulted in many changes of government and various leaderships in recent times.

Over 12 different leaders (from former Presidents to the new separate Prime Minister and HoS President systems) of Beechmount have held office since the Beechmounts United in the 1980's. Before uniting, the new Beechmountians held a new Republic state aside from the Old Beechmount nobility and royalty led nation, which was governed from the former Beechmount House by a Lord and Lady later onto years of war and conflict which is now of course a United Republic between the two, with numerous reforms as well as a temporary colony of the Whiterock Empire (at first by choice, but then refused an exit and war and intense diplomacy was required) (Whiterock Empire now ceasing to exist also), then as a communist nation two different times. The nation was also recently acquired by The Federation of Springhill, Lower Ballymurphy, Westrock, Springfield & Beechmount which was a fascist dictatorship regime. This federation later collapsed following intervention from the Union for Ulster Micronations and the people who rose up against their regime to demand their democracy, freedom and independence to be returned as soon as possible, which this after much debate in the Parliament for Beechmount between freedom fighters and various leaders agreed on the dissolvement of The Federation which also then led to the reinstatement of the former five republics to return to their original forms pre-takeover.

Demographics

Beechmount is part of numerous alliances for trade, travel, agreements, economics and defence. Citizens of Beechmount have reported to be at a satisfactory standard of living in majority of regions. Isolated regions such as Cluain Mor, Iveagh and the small proportion of La Salle under Beechmount jurisdiction have reported either dissatisfied or prosperous standards of living in their areas based on the condition of the local economy, development and transport available in those areas.

Citizens of Beechmount are entitled to VISA free emigration to other UUM nations part of the Common Agreement that is signed when a nation joins the Union for Ulster Micronations and the UUM Foreign Ministry has reported a rise in Beechmountians' emigration to other UUM nations, commonly to the Poleglass Democratic Republic.

Allies & Friends

Beechmount is currently a member state of the Union for Ulster Micronations (also the UUM) for relationships and diplomacy, including economic ties and trade relations along with soft or eased restriction based borders, with no need for VISAs for the right to work, live or study in any of these nations (participating nations only in the UUM Free Will Zone).

We also share high relations with the City State of Belfast, and their recently formed diplomatic and economic union, the Union for the Wellbeing of Growing Nations (UWGN) which allows any micronations within it to have access to resources and diplomacy for stable economic growth and share it among each nation. This union is still yet to continue to develop, however its member states as of now are growing with several applications to join currently pending.

The flags both have the same meaning. The towers in the centre resemble Beechmount House, a historic building built in 1777 from which the area gets its name. Both of the flags where designed by Luke Hannaway

Original flag of Beechmount

The original Beechmount flag lasted from 9 January 2022 to 5 February that same year. It was never meant to be a long term flag. It is thought that the building in the middle represents Beechmount House, but is unknown. The flag was designed by President Joseph.

Union for Ulster Micronations

The Union for Ulster Micronations consists of a number of Micronations in what is known as the province of Ulster in a union of strength, friendship, strong alliances, trade, economic benefits, diplomatic relations and domesticated travel, this also coincides with the Domestic Travel Act (the act which allows neighbouring Micronations to travel border-free).

History

The Kingdoms of Beechmount House were initially founded by former monarch Queen Londa the Great in 1824, succeeding the realms she once reigned over which was made up of land owned and governed by Her Majesty at the time. A household specifically required for a monarch's residence was required for the kingdoms, therefore, construction of Beechmount House went well underway and completed construction in 1826. Queen Londa then later married her husband the Duke of Springfield, Sir Daniel Murphy of the Greater Regions. They had reigned until 1868, when Her Majesty passed away in a major fire at Beechmount House. The Duke of Springfield subsequently left Beechmount and allowed the crown to move down onto their eldest child, Princess Londa later re-named Queen Londa II of the Beechmount Kingdoms. The Kingdoms had continually expanded, and Queen Londa II married her husband at the age of 33, who was Lord Grant. By 1872, Queen Londa II had decided to create a new one kingdom consisting of the former multiple kingdoms that made up the lands and territories she had owned; thus the Kingdom of Beechmount was officially formed and she had altercated the stylisation of royalty in Beechmount to simply just Lady and Lord and remove King and Queen titles.

In 1892, a separatist, republican movement took place in eastern parts of the kingdom who did not desire the monarchy nor the governance of what they claimed 'their land' and demanded to create a 'new Beechmount'. This is where the present day terminology for the local area derived from. Lady Londa and Lord Grant were severly under pressure, and certainly weren't getting any younger. They had appointed Lady Londa's nephew, the Duke of the Grosvenor, Sir William Hayde, the governor for the less developed parts, mostly eastern bound Beechmount known as 'new Beechmount'. From this, a new autonomous region was born and the monarchy was now going through a trough as original Beechmountians had realised that maybe the 'New Beechmountians' were right and that they deserved more democracy, or even a republic. However, this only had around 26% through to 32% of support to remove the royals, and in addition to that, it was categorised as an absolute monarchy however Lady Londa firmly did not believe in authortarianism and often heard people's opinions first before making decisions. Their adopted child, eldest and only son Archduke Michael McCourt (an ancestor of former modern day Springhillian leader also known as Michael McCourt) did not wish to carry on the crown of Beechmount and barely wanted to serve his Archduchy, however taken on the title and roles due to his mother and father's pride in him.

In 1895, Lady Londa had become a widow after her husband Lord Grant had suffered a stroke. Lady Londa was indeed heartbroken, and had to begin heavily relying on her son for help in running Beechmount. Of course, he did not believe in the crown, however he done it for his deceased father and his now widowed mother and sovereign. A few weeks after the Lord's death, a republican uprising and movement in the Autonomous Region of Beechmount and in order to settle a three-day dispute, the governor, the Duke of the Grosvenor asked Lady Londa to re-establish the region under the crown as a separate entity known as the Dominion of New Beechmount. This had its own full official government and remained under the Beechmountian crown, however did not have to obey to any orders or commands from the institution itself, and had its own right to declare independence and revoke its dominion status and claim sovereignty of its own nation.

.

In 1897, Dominion of New Beechmount had developed quickly and rapidly during its time as a standalone dominion, and thus a New Beechmountian revolutionist along with other revolutionaries overthrew the governor, the Duke of the Grosvenor, and declared an independent new sovereign nation, the Republic of New Beechmount was created and claimed that they were the free and real Beechmount. In 1898 however, Lady Londa had died of natural causes in Beechmount House. In this event, the Archduke would have been automatically the inherent of the crown, however as he was against monarchy, he used the power of the crown once to declare a new free republic and abolish the Crown of Beechmount, in this case it was known as the Free Republic of Beechmount.

The former Archduke had also appointed the former New Beechmount governor, the Duke of the Grosvenor the Prime Minister of the new nation whilst Sir Michael McCourt had inherited the responsibilities of Chancellor working closely with the new Prime Minister to revive the country in its post-monarchy days. He felt as though he let his parents down, however did the right thing.

In 1901, both Beechmount nation leaders had met for the first time in a new show of diplomacy since the kingdom had fell. On this occasion, they tried to reach an agreement to peace and a trade deal, however the majority were against it branding it 'an act of treason and becoming a traitor' and defeats the point of New Beechmount. The two leaders agreed to remain peaceful however never to make contact like this again. This voided any future attempts of re-unifying the Beechmount nations in the coming years, spiralling them both into years of uncertainty and separate growth.

In 1926, a new name branding the Free Republic as 'old Beechmount' for its older leaders and in New Beechmount's eyes still being the same old country just with a new name, begun floating around, whicb began to stick, even to the 'Old Beechmountians'.

In 1942, a civil war had broken out in the Free Republic of Beechmount suddenly after the Duke of the Grosvenor had passed away earlier in that same week. The Chancellor, formerly Archduke had retired that same week also and emigrated to Ballymurphy which then was part of the former Whiterock Empire with his wife and children. The Free Republic of Beechmount had collapsed and spiralled into anarchy. The Republic of New Beechmount had considered an invasion and annexation of the land, however deemed that there would be hatred for their government in those parts, making unification once again almost impossible.

In early 1943, the Free Republic of Old Beechmount was born and had been officially declared and instated by Sir Alexander Hasse, who had came across the collapsed anarchist state. He had begun to attempt to make further diplomatic relations with their neighbour, New Beechmount, however proved yet again unsuccessful.

Later, in 1956, technological changes and advances began hitting the streets in the ever modernising and glamorous Beechmountian nations. From supercomputers, to televisions and multiple stations, it all came with a boom. This was also a year where a trade deal; between the Beechmounts had finally been agreed on after decades of none. Sir Alexander Hasse had then appointed Baroness Elizabeth Barr (Moore in Marriage) in charge of the nation, former modern-day Turf Lodge Republic leader Ann McVeigh's mother, in charge of Old Beechmount as he announced he was stepping down from leadership to return to Denmark (he was a distant relative of current day Queen Margarethe II of Denmark's parents; which is why Queen Margarethe remains so interested and friendly with Beechmount to this day) and he had then left with his best wishes.

In 1974, a brand new parliament, electoral system and government was formed in which the Beechmount people would vote for their next President and then for their local MP to represent them in the new parliament. This year also brought the time the border walls between the two Beechmounts were finally demolished, however border checks and standard fences were installed in their place; this was due to the Acts of the Two Beechmount's Rectification Process (1970 an 1972) which had boosted friendship and diplomacy between the two nations, and new VISAs for one anothers nations were launched. Also in this year, Springfield had sold their newly built districts of Cluain Mor, which continued development under Beechmountian rule for years to come to New Beechmount.

In 1982, Davitts International Airport had officially finished construction and New Beechmountians had got granted border free access to use the airports facilities using an old tunnel that closed in 1992 due to safety concerns and flooding from the nearby Clowney River.

In 1986, the two Beechmounts had finally went into talks about re-unification. Both sides parliaments would debate the situation as to what it would entail, how it would be run, how to introduce an entirely brand new law system and of course the implementation of Human Rights. In the event of unification, the land of the two Beechmounts would be enormous as they would own Old Beechmount, New Beechmount, Iveagh, Cluain Mor, St. Mary's, Cavendish and Davitts as well as part of the Falls Road and the Royal Victoria Hospital. It would also be one of the strongest micronations economically at the time, and have the best HDI.

Eventually, in 1988, the Unification of the Two Beechmounts Act 1988 went into effect and from there the new republic proclaimed as the Republic of the Beechmount People was formed. Street parties had taken place, the term Beechmountian was back in action, and people rejoiced that separation was no more. They had achieved something they had wanted for many years.

President Michael McIlwee was the first president of many years of this newly proclaimed Beechmount Republic.

In 2002, a new economic and trades union was set up known as the Union for Ulster Micronational Economies for several micronations who would benefit from the new trade policies they would share. In 2005, this trade union had reformed into the now present day UUM (Union for Ulster Micronations) which was a part-political union and trades union. It had also evolved into a travel and eventually years later internally VISA free movement and emigration union for the nations part of it and the citizens of strictly those nations only. Over the years, we have witnessed internal land borders being taken down, no requirement for VISAs for UUM citizens in UUM nations, regulatory bodies and health and safety controls, human right guarantees, internal security and defence and UN membership for all UUM member nations each, and now as of 2023, a new shared currency of the Ulster Quid is now widely available optionally for UUM member nations in order to simplify travel and trade much more easier than before. Only a few nations of the many are opting to look into using the currency and those few are still yet to decide if they should adopt it.
