Daragonian nationalism

Daragonian Nationalism is a form of civic nationalism or cultural nationalism found in Daragonia. Daragonian nationalism is characterised by a strong sentiment for the Republic and the constitution. Daragonian nationalists believe that these two things are not just necessary for a free society, but that they are entrenched in the Daragonian culture and national spirit.

The Daragonian National Party is the principle proponent of Daragonian Nationalism, however, the Primier Iacof ap Sidwofsci has sympathised with such sentiments.

Core beliefs

Daragonian nationalism can mostly be classified as civic but the Daragonian National Party would argue that there is a strong cultural element.

Republicanism

Republicanism is the core component of Daragonian nationalism. Daragonia is one of the few democratic Republics in the micronational community as most are single party communist regimes or hereditary monarchies. Daragonias democracy and status as a Republic is seen as something to revere and be proud of by Daragonians, as a result it is also a strong component of any Daragonian nationalist movement.

The constitution

Much like the Republic, the constitution is also a central part of the Daragonian nationalist ideology. However, more traditionalist Daragonian nationalists are less keen on the constitutions current manifestation due to its progressive nature but they respect it regardless.

Souverainism

Daragonian nationalists have a strong emphasis on on maintaining Daragonias sovereignty from other microstates or micronationals. The leader of the Daragonian National Party, Ben Evans, has stated that his party would oppose Daragonia joining any organisation that would take away the countries sovereignty.

Community

The current citizenry of Daragonia, who actually predates Daragonia as a community and group of friends. Thus the preservation of that core community is important to Daragonian nationalists, as is the government exercising a strong authority on who can and can not attain citizenship. This does not mean that Daragonian nationalists are opposed entirely to immigration into the country as long as they integrate into the community cohesively.
