The DE engine is a game engine created and developed by ACBIC Games for the Devil's Brigade series. The engine was originally based on Roblox Studio as its core, since the engine itself is proprietary with inclusion of Roblox assets and the Roblox Studio engine. Aside from ACBIC Games, the engine is also used by other studios working on the series, including primary lead developers Newmaker Studios.

History

DE 1.0 to DE 1.2

DE has been used since the Devil's Brigade series' initial release, Devil's Brigade. The engine's first release, DE 1.0, will be used for the first version of the first game, however it has been noted that DE 1.2 will be used for the final version of Devil's Brigade. DE 1.2 is also to be expected to be the version of DE used to develop Devil's Brigade: DECOM. Intended differences towards DE 1.0 and 1.2 should include a higher quality of performance, graphics, and better resolution settings.

DE 2.0 to DE 3.0

DE 2.0 is expected to be developed towards the end of 2022 with usage in Devil's Brigade 2 and Firesquad. DE 3.0 is expected to be developed either towards the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023 to be used in Spec Ops. Intended differences between DE 1.2 and 2.0 should include AI enemies being used for the first time, physics applications such as dismemberment, and better lighting. There are no planned differences between 2.0 and 3.0 from ACBIC Games or Newmaker Studios at this time.
