The title is neither automatic or inheritable. It merges with the crown when the title's holder eventually accedes to the throne or its holder passes away before taking the throne, leaving the monarch to grant the title to the next in line to the throne after the former holder. The title is officially appointed by the Monarch. As the title is constitutional used to denote the heir apparent to the throne, the monarch is constitutionally bound to grant the title to his or her eldest son due to the monarchy's succession is male-preference primogeniture.
