The Corsican Republic of Niolu', officially in Corsican language Republica Corsa di Niolu,is a micronation created on May 23, 2021, by Corsican patriots, to defend and expand the traditions, artistic works and activities in the Corsican language and the island of Corsica.
Etymology
The name of the micronation it is the name of the valley where Mount Cintu, the highest mountain in Corsica, is located. This place was razed to the ground in the 16th century by the Genoese. The name was chosen to emphasize the culture of permanent struggle in defense of the Corsican lands and traditions.
Flag and Coat of Arms
On the flag, the light blue color represents the Mediterranean sea that surrounds the Corsican homeland, the white represents peace.
Politics
Niolu is organized as a presidential republic, with the People's Assembly as its legislative chamber.
